This show was so awesome! I can't believe people thought "it couldnt compete with FRIENDS" ...the main argument for why it was unfairly cancelled in 1998!

It paved the way for shows like "Girlfriends" and was a more laid back, street savvy version of "Sex & the city". If it had been a cable show, it probably would have had more sexual contet like "Sex & the city" but i don't think fans were ready to see Kim Fields get down and dirty ala' "Samantha" lol!

My favorite character, OF COURSE, was Regine! Everyone who i know says that she reminds them of ME LOL! ^_^ but I could never rock the wigs like she does.

Did anybody else enjoy this show? My mom and I still watch it (it comes on TV ONE and Oxygen). My mom liked Queen Latifah's character, Kadejah James.

i LOVED when Rosie O'Donnell guest starred on there as "Sharon" ...she would have made an excellent addition as the "token white cast member" LOL she really played well off of Sinclair and Kadejah...and she even gave Kyle a hard time too :D Madonna's cameo was historic too! To see her and the Queen in the same space was awesome.

I enjoyed Friends, but I didnt REALLY get into that show until the later seasons...I feel like Living Single wasnt given a fair chance even though it was a very well written, stylish show. To compare it to "Friends" really didnt make sense to me.

I remember Kim Coles appealing to the fans to show their support to help save the show when it was ORIGINALLY cancelled in early 1997 and they managed to bring it back for one more season, but alas...the end came in 1998.

I love the show, but sadly I didn't get into it until it was on reruns when I was in college. Funnily (or maybe that's not the word) the guy who played the Jamaican photographer was one of Queen Latifah's guests at the concert she played where I worked. I still can watch that show, whereas I can't really watch Friends anymore. I actually never would have thought to connect the two lol. My favorite was always Max though :)

I like the show I like Maxine she was so weird to me but I loved her. And I loved Sinclair too.

Regine was just too much for me haha and I hated that name for her..

The guy who really annoyed me, I don't remember his name but at the beginning Maxine and him used to argue all the time and then they ended up getting together lol.

I actually watched a rerun not long ago. It was the first time I saw it on TV in a long time and it was still funny lol. My favorite was Maxine and how she always managed to say something about Regina. My least favorite was that dude who dated Sinclair. The bald guy. He just annoyed me to no end.

i really think that show had some excellent writers...i realize that it was probably aimed at black audiences but this thread prooves that it had broad appeal across the board. I was in highschool when this show originally aired and was in my 2nd year of college by the time it ended and i knew alot of people, black, white, male and female who enjoyed it, so i dont know why it was considered "unable to compete with friends" either.

the guy whom Maxine sparred/dated with was Kyle Barker played by T.C. Carson. His voice was sexy as hell...but that hairstyle he had was a MESS!

i remember Living Single, it was a good show used to watch it with my sister. I can't really remember it now

i liked his voice but i hated his hair LOL!

its one of those shows that there was really nothing wong with it and it prooves that even when a show is a fan favorite, that there's no guarantee itll stay on the air (though being on the air for 5 years is a decent run for any show)

I still watch the show. It is soooo funny! I love Max, she is like the funniest person from tv in the 90's. The show never got the praise it deserved. But I was so happy Max and Kyle ended up together. Like from the beginning I hoped they would. I also wanted Regine and Overton to date. Maybe because the two dated in real life...?? Anywho, I am glad they still show reruns. They show it on Oxygen for me.

Me too, Trish! To me the show is still cute and funny. Regine will ALWAYS be my favorite but I always thought she shouldve done something with Kyle. I know they were friends from the past but a diva like her usually attracts a narcissistic man like Kyle. Either way between Max & Regine, Kyle would never have been bored and neither would we!
