Allright, I know some of you (especially the men) will probably know who this woman is. Karrine Stefans, Hip Hop's most notable (and former) Video Vixen, currently a New York times best selling author twice over and an aspiring actress ("a man apart") .

I just recently read one of her books "Confessions of a Video Vixen" and my eyes just about POPPED out of their socketts.

I always knew the world of hip hop (the industry and all therein) was misogynistic but her stories , the things she wrote, it just astonished me and really stoked the fires of feminism in my soul.

Part of me wants to slap Karrine silly for what she did or set herself up for, but then the other part gasps at the sexual greed of some of these men (WELL KNOWN faces in the music, sports and entertainment industry) that used and abused this woman.

One of the stories involved her being VIOLENTLY forced to give head and the person whom she was giving it to caused her to BLEED from her nose and mouth because of what he was doing

I know this book is a couple years old now, but I just now had the chance to get a copy and read it. has anyone heard about it? read it? thoughts or opinions?

I blame her. I am roughly aware of what she writes but I also know that these guys are able to do this because the women in their lives lust for one thing: MONEY. If these women valued themselves for something other than what their orifices can withstand these guys would treat women better, or get no sex.

I understand that you are appalled at the appetites of these men, but that tells me that you have no idea of the libido of most men. If I could, I would have sex many times per day. Damn sure beats working.

The issue for me is that Karrine writes these stories and profits from these guys' private lives when she agreed to be a part of it. I find that MORE apalling. It is just bad form to me to kiss and tell.

having a raving sexual appetite is one thing. being "appalled" (good choice of word) at what could only defined as borderline DEVIANT behavior is another. If you havent read the book, I recommend it. It didnt become a new york times best seller for NOTHING lol.

the shock that i had was because many of the men mentioned are "household names"...it just prooves what people like my mom and other mental health professionals have said, that men in high profile, high powered positions more often than not PLUMMET into the depths of deviant sexual behavior in order to satisfy themselves. having sex alot is one thing. using sex as a weapon (for example, making someone BLEED!?) is quite another.

Some of men mentioned in this book i would have guessed, others I would not have (Bill Maher!? ) but she wouldnt have these things to WRITE if these men werent walking around so eager to do what they did.

Karrine's first book DEFINATELY reads differently than her second book. You can see the recovery of herself between the first and second and she herself admits she allowed herself to be "passed around" at that time (among other things) but what does that say about those men? that if they think a woman has no respect for herself (or simply doesnt know any better at the time) that they should just run WILD with her to the point of her BLEEDING?

The secret lives of these guys are none of our business. I am quite certain that your own lifestyle in the sheets might make some people blush. I have had young ladies ask for things that I would NEVER do to my wife. The thing for me is that she is now profiting off of the public condemnation of a lifestyle that she willingly engaged in and if she did not want to participate, she did not have to. Thses men are rich and powerful and, as a part of that, they are able to get cash-blinded women to do for them what they otherwise would not have access to.

I view this as no different than if a lover of yours or a former lover of mine decided to kiss and tell.

these men KNOW that some women are "blinded" by the idea of cash and fame. THEY are no better for taking advantage of these women than these women who foolishly sell themselves out. if anything the fault is EQUAL.

when it comes to "between the sheets", while i may not tell all my business, i can rest assured in knowing that whatever happens is of my choosing and that i would NEVER be left broken and bloodied on the floor in the name of satisfying my partner.

part of Karrine's problem was that she was young and she was starstruck like many girls who have come after her. what she's doing is shining the light on a problem that blights the hip hop industry. it goes beyond the secret lives of powerfull rich men, it goes back to the age old issue of men getting pleasure at the expense of women...and an industry that has become more and more reliant on the hyper sexualized image of women to sell their videos etc. It's not like MADONNA who CONTROLS her image. These women are told what to do by men from the moment they arrive to audition.

there are accounts of women who have been cornered by industry execs who would "whip it out" and pretty much press it up on the woman and how far the woman would go in her "career" depended on her response then and there. Karrine mentions that some women who flat out refused were dismissed....and for those who gave in under pressure, there IS NO legal recourse (sexual harrassment laws anyone?). Things that a man in an office (no matter how powerfull he is) KNOWS he better not say to his secretary that he lusts after, many of these casting directors, producers, or even the artists themselves have no problem saying to these women.

I dont think its admirable that a man who wouldnt utterly degrade his wife has no problem doing so to "some other woman"...and incidently, most of these "heavy hitters" (Diddy among them) were/are married. so that makes them look even LESS like men and more like DOGS.

The whole reason i got interested in this book was because someone at my JOB was talking about how she took it away from her daughter LOL! When i read it for myself, i was like "omg, no wonder".

Are you SERIOUS???!! Robbers are also blinded by cash, but banks do not share blame in robbery. If you don't like how these guys have sex, stay at home. You know what's up when you show up.

That is what separates you from these women, and how it should be. If they want money, let them get a job, an education. They want things the easy way, and they end up with more than they bargained for with these guys.

As far as gender and sexual harassment laws go, if you are treated poorly in a situation like that, I understand that is fucked up and that it is hard to have any recourse. But many of those women don't care about using their bodies and until that changes, the exploitation will continue.
