Jennifer Anniston vs. Angelina Jolie

Alright so EVERYONE is abuzz about Jennifer Anniston and Angelina Jolie appearing at the SAME event [the Oscars] and when Jennifer emerged to be a presenter of two awards for the evening, everyone was abuzz with how she totally upstaged Angelina for the spotlight and attention.

Now personally? I think J.Ann's dress was fabulous! Totally somthing I would have wore and BETTER looking than Angelina's frock.

Many people (especially men) think Angelina "looks better" than J.Ann but i counter that with the fact that Annison (and Sarah Jessica Parker for that matter) may not be "pretty" in their FACIAL features as some people say but they BOTH have BODIES and ROCK the outfits they wear. They are both considered FASHION ICONS.

Angelina Jolie on the other hand has made more than a FEW MAJOR and WELL documented fashion BLUNDERS at these award shows.

Angelina Jolie is probably most celebrated "homewrecker" on the globe right now. She arguably destroyed J.Ann's marriage, she's only RECENTLY begun to remind us that she can do MORE than adopt a child from every country on the globe and having babies with Brad Pitt ( meaning she's finally making movies again)

Jennifer Anniston has made the cross over from TV to Big screen smoothly enough .



when it comes to fashion and style? I prefer J.Ann. Angelina's LIPS enter the room five minutes before she does and pretty much that's all you remember about her.

In terms of acting ability? Well i think we havent seen ENOUGH of J.Ann yet to see how far she can go. She's had a few roles that have tested her range and she's aquitted herself well but Angelina's been in the game for a while now. Hopefully she will remember there IS life after filling her house with 5000 children (and stealing other people's husbands)

LOL. Honestly, I think this whole, Angelina vs. Jennifer thing is so played out. No one really knows what happened in the whole Brad Pitt situation. There were reports that Jenn and Brad's marriage was already over [unofficially] and there were reports that Angelina swooped in and stole him from Jenn. No one really knows but the three of them. And honestly, Jennifer Aniston looks extremely happy [and has stated she's very happy] with John Mayer now. And obviously Brad and Angelina are happy as well. So I think the only people holding onto this feud are the media and us [the people].

As for whose better acting wise, I think they're both strong in their genres. Angelina is an Oscar winner and I think three time nominee? She does drama very well and also action. Jennifer is extremely talented in comedy. She was hilarious in Friends, and I think the movies she has done since Friends have been good.

Look wise, personally I think Angelina is gorgeous. However, the past couple of years [when she hasn't been pregnant LOL] she's looked way too thin. Her body was amazing when she had an atheltic frame in the Tomb Raider movies. Aside from that, I think she's stunning and my pick if I had to choose between the two. Jennifer Aniston has a quirky pretty to her. She's no the a-typical beauty queen, but she's beautiful nontheless.

Style wise, I thought Angelina looked really pretty at the Oscars. It was a simple yet classic black dress with GORGEOUS jewlery. I freakin' LOVED that jewlery. Jennifer Aniston looked great as well. Her dress was beautiful, but I wasn't a huge fan of her hair. I thought the twisty side thing was a little too casual for an event like the Oscars.

In the end I voted Angelina though. I think they're both beautiful and talented woman, but I gotta stick with my girl Angie. lol

On a side note: did anyone see Jessica Biel? WTF was she wearing?! She looked like a candle stick, and her hair had enough grease in it to oil my car....YUCK.

YES! i think Angelina has become WAY too thin. It's not sexy. That was what made me grow cold on Calista Flockhart and even Jennifer Anniston a few years back. But Now Jennifer is back to a sexy body.

Angelina should stop wearing black ALL the time. Black is the "fail safe" and yes sometimes its totally fashionable but other times it looks too familiar. It's like how Winona Ryder became "known" for that "clever cross between a glamorous pixie/retro 1920's flapper" style that she wore to EVERY event from 1997 thru 1999 LOL!

I wanted to see if anyone here was as "polarized" about these two as the media seems to be. I mean...everyone seemed to expect Jennifer Anniston to jump off the stage and ATTACK Angelina during the ceremony LOL! now 20 or 30 years ago? that MIGHT have happened...back then award shows fell victim to celebrities screaming obscenities (before they could be censored) people running naked across the stage and more. but now, in this "5 second delay, ultra censored, lawsuit happy" time that we live...award shows are woefully tame.

Angela's prettier, has better acting chops, more style, has the man that JA wants, and...whether you joke it or admire it, actually does good stuff with her money.

This is a non-contest. The part about a homewrecker...PLEASE. Jennifer aniston didn't want kids and Brad Pitt did. Period. jennifer had yet to make a home with them. She was just keeping his bed warm until the right one came along...the mother of his children. Jenifer decided to stay trim and go after her career over a family life with her man...and now she barely has EITHER.

I honestly was NEVER big into Jennifer Anniston, I never saw the appeal. Maybe because I didn't watch Friends. I do recall how fashionable her hair style was years ago and it still is. Do I think Jen was right for Brad? So-so. Jen seems like a nice-sweet woman but I think Brade prefers a little spice in his life. I never thought Jennifer was "all that" maybe if you mentioned Sharon Stone from her days in Basic Instinct then maybe she'd rival Angie. But I always thought Jen was just 'okay', I thought she had a funny looking nose. And let's not forget she did the horror movie, Leprechaun, LOL!

Angelina had a lot in her favor. Everything from her lips to her body to her acting. While she was provocative years ago when she KISSED her brother on the mouth! I think she's mellowed out and matured since motherhood (kind of like Madonna). Madonna is another victim whose weight fluctuates as well. If you juggle four or five kids I'm sure your nerves would be shot too lol.

I never saw AJ as a home wrecker though. Mr. and Mrs. Smith sparked feelings between them but like Garrick commented (which I agree), the issue was about children. Jennifer didn't want kids and Brad did. Let's face it Brad's forty or maybe even fifty now so he wasn't getting any younger. So many people are like "Oh, she's such a home wrecker" but I really don't think so. Here was a gorgeous man who she shared great chemistry with on screen and off, so why shouldn't she take advantage of that? AJ already had kids and Brad wanted them so I think that brought them even closer. If you saw early photo's of them, Brad was caring for AJ's kids.

I obviously voted for Angelina here. I always liked her as an actress. Her acting ranged from drama to action to suspense (the Bone Collector) as Sam had mentioned. Jennifer...I can't honestly recall any of her work besides Friends and The Break Up. Other than that she doesn't stick out for me as a star.

A lot of hot gossip was much more focused on Angelina getting the last laugh when Jennifer was presenting since the orchestra wasn't below the stage like usual. And honestly is John Mayer REALLY an upgrade from Brad Pitt? LMAO! Hell no! John tends to go through women pretty quickly, it was rumored he dated Jessica Simpson. Lol.

I thought Angelina looked great in Wanted, a kick-ass film might I add. But I just don't feel Jennifer is all that whether beauty or acting. I think Jennifer might win in the fashion department but that's really about it for me.

What boggles my mind is that people are STILL talking about Jennifer vs. Angelina. Brad and Jen were divorced like ten years ago and just because he married Angie everyone seems to think that Jennifer just can't POSSIBLY get over that! I swear to God I think everyday they show Jennifer like taking out her garbage and there is some caption like:

"YAY! Jennifer Aniston left the house today! Good for Her!"

It's ridiculous. I don't really think you can classify them. They are both totally different actors and quite honestly the only thing I really liked Angelina Jolie in was Girl Interrupted and Gia. And Jennifer Aniston... I just have never seen her in that strong of a movie.

Jennifer and Angelina BOTH have been scrutinized for their fluxuating weight, but Jennifer has her body back and the dress she wore at the oscars prooved it. She's not stick thin...her eyes don't BUG OUT and she's got the right curves in the right places. She, like Farrah Fawcett 2 decades before, had a hairstyle that MILLIONS of women copied. In 2007 FORBES magazine listed Anniston as one of the 10 richest women in the entertainment industry along side Madonna and Oprah (who is at the top). Angelina was no where on the list.

I LOVE "Girl Interrupted"...i STILL watch it like i've seen it for the first time...and don't get me started on "GIA" one of my absolute FAVORITE Angelina movies EVER. that movie is what sent her "star" through the roof in the first place.

It's just that I grow WEARY of hearing men (and women) talk about how she's SOOO sexy and how they'd ALL sleep with her ..blah blah blah...and yes, the media has induced FATIGUE in some of us with her children. She needs to get a SHAPE to her body again...she's skinny as hell...(and i get mad when a woman is so skinny she makes even ME look fat :rolleyes) and her lips enter the room five minutes before she does!

My motivation for this thread was to see exactly what people thought of each one and it worked. just like I highlighted her having children seems to be more noticed than her career as of late....and others think that Jennifer's career began and ENDED with Friends.

we'll never know how Angelina came to "get" Brad (although Jennifer seemed to shed some shocking light on it in Vanity Fair a few months back) but in the end...both women are talented and have many memorable accomplishments and movies to their names. Jennifer has yet to win OSCAR but who knows what's instore for her!

Farrah, the only knocks you have on Angelina Jolie are either unfounded or mean-spirited. "Her lips enter the room 10 minutes before she does"? REALLY?! As a Black man, I like that. I'm used to thicker lips.

As for her awards, she has all of SIX on your list you made that aren't directly tied to Friends and none worth mentioning really. Swedish Awards?! C'mon Farrah.

As for Q rating, what comes OUT of Jolie is more desired as a picture get than a naked Aniston. Aniston was only too happy to get someone to just listen to her some more while Jolie garnered millions for CHARITY for a newborn shot. The Oscars didn't ask for Jolie not because she has a low Q rating, they simply decided to do what Brad Pitt didn't: settle for Jennifer Aniston.

Jolie is better looking by a LOT, she has style and class and she is a good person. She is the current United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees goodwill ambassador, going around the world helping millions of children and their parents displaced by war and hatred. You would never catch Aniston doing that. She might chip a nail or mess up her carefully selected ensemble. And Angelina does that and STILL manages to outdo Aniston's resume.

No Angelina hasn't been acting longer. Aniston's first movie was in 1990, 3 years before Jolie. It was just crappy, like a LOT of her stuff, so I can understand the mistake. The truth is, everything she does well, it is with someone else carrying the water. NOBODY watched friends for her, it's Joey and Chandler and the pretty blonde whatshername, etc. The Breakup? Vince Vaugh. So what's she got? Nothing on Jolie. NOTHING.

They are both talented, but Jolie has a level or two on Aniston. She has done more and done it better while doing other stuff while Aniston apparently has amassed a great fortune with all the money she saved not having kids or contributing to worthy causes. Good for her.

I am sorry I am just going to be blunt. Angelina has spent all this time feeding the hungry children of the world that she has forgotten to eat herself. I don't think her adopting all these children is necessarily that responsible and I wonder how they are taken care of in wills, etc. Who takes care of them is both of them die. the reason why many of her awards are tied to friends is because she was on that show for over 10 years. when you have a body of work that spans so long...OBVIOUSLY most of your work will be attached to that.

Elizabeth Montgomery's GREATEST amount of awards came from her time on Bewitched, but no one disputes her talent as a small screen actress OUTSIDE of that show with the many powerfull, dramatic, twisted films she did up till her death. She'll always been BEST KNOWN for Bewitched, despite her other accomplishments. the same with Jennifer and Friends. how is that a BAD thing?

No star in today's spotlight started out of the gate with a "FANTASTIC FILM"...most stars have had roles that they wished to forget, or were little known in the beginning so what exactly as your point about Jennifer's first films? Angelina didnt get a HIT until 1997's "Gia" and by then Jennifer was ALREADY prominent because of Friends which began in 1994. and um...Courtney Cox, Jennifer Anniston and Lisa Kudrow had the higher Q ratings among the cast of friends. at the time show began, Courtney Cox was the BIGGEST star of the group, but the END of the show...all three women were about even. the MEN were not on their level in terms of notariety or movie/box office success.

and how exactly do you know the motivation for the academy's choosing Jennifer to present not one but two awards? for years its been known that a star's Q rating determined whether or not they'd be asked to present. She has two #1 films in the box office right now so how is that "settling"? sounds LESS like a sound argument and MORE like the juvenile insult of a MAN I may have been catty about her lips, but its OBVIOUS that her body is not what it once was...probably by her choice, but being STICK THIN with giant lips isnt sexy...it's carachature-esque.

Jennifer came to prominence on TV, Angeline on the Movies. Now Jennifer has crossed over into the movies...and she has emmy/golden globe awardds wins nominations to proove that she's far from finished along with her status as a style icon. From a FASHION CRITIQUE perspective, Angelina just DOES NOT get the kind of rave reviews that Jennifer does...its EVERYWHERE to say. samething with Sarah Jessica Parker. some people think she's attractive, others think "she's a troll" (as you once said LOL) but the woman is one of the premier "style icons" of the late 20th and current century. its cemented, its documented and there's no denying it. Angelina does not have the style to match EITHER of these two.

Jennifer also has the distinction of one of the 10 highest paid women in entertainment along side Madonna, Oprah and Celine Dion.

have you even WATCHED any of the movies you dismiss? I've seen MANY of Angelina's films and notice that i didnt DISMISS any of them. I simply said she gets more attention for her ever growing BROOD than she does for her work as an ACTRESS which is quite true at this point.

and if you want an example of SEXY full lips...try Lisa Rinna...who has a BODY to go with those lips.

I like both Angelina AND Jennifer. I think both seem to be extremely kind hearted and sweet woman. Both are talented in their art. Both have been awarded for their talent. So i've always been sort of ehhh about arguing who's better than who [eventhough I do think Angelina is prettier]. BUT, I don't ever recall Jennifer Aniston being considered a 'style icon'. She had a signature hairstyle that was huge in the 90's. I remember when I was young I went and asked for the Rachel cut LOL. But nothing that stands out as 'iconic' fashion wise. Sarah Jessica Parker, absolutely. She transformed the way people look at fashion. But not so much Jennifer Aniston.
