A two time oscar winning actress, enduring face in pop culture and still very beautifull today. After 15 years out of the movies, she returned with much success in the hit comedy 'Monster in Law" (easily showing up Jennifer Lopez with her superior acting skills) and she came back again in "Georgia Rule" which was actually a decent story about the bond between mothers and daughters.

Can you believe there are still people who want to scream "hanoi Jane"? after nearly 40 years? personally i think its kind of stupid to be stuck on a mistake th at she admitted and apologized for decades ago. The woman was expressing herslf and is no different than what the Dixie Chicks did back when the Iraq war first started...and Vietnam war has gone down as one of the most unpopular and unsuccessfull war's in our recent history while the iraq war draws MORE AND MORE comparison to that....i feel like people need to GET OVER IT.

Having said that, with a remake of "Barbarella" looming on the horizon (courtesy of Robert Rodriguez- "Sin City", "Grind House", "Planet Terror") I was wondering are there any Jane Fonda fans here? what are your favorite movies of her's?

mine would have to be: Barbarella, 9 to 5 and Barefoot in the park

Klute was another good film. this was during the phase where she was a "serious actress" and made several hard hitting, critically acclaimed films ("The shoot horses dont they?", "On golden pond", etc)

anyone remember the now classic "Jane Fonda's work out" tapes from the 1980's? she helped make aeroboics (and the outfits for it) a stapel of 80's trends and pop culture.

I think the question more appropriate is, who doesn't like Jane Fonda? I really loved her in Monster in Law. Her character was clever, catty, and successful.

As far as her past acting career, I do remember her on Golden Pond. My mother was a huge fan of Jane Fonda as well as Golden Pond. She still looks fabulous even today.

Even with her protesting in Washington, DC, which she still continues to do. The only difference is the amount of time from the war in the 60's until now. But, I'm all for Freedom of Speech. Not only did the Dixie Chicks protest but also Kanye West as well. I remember that was quite a show when he spoke on live television lol.

Barbarella was quite a memorable film. Every now and then HBO will air the film. I still remember her costume lol.

*laughs*
Alright, I'll come clean. My first impure thought involving an actress was Jane Fonda. :D

She just oozed sex appeal as well as sophistication, and was a good actress in her own right. Just another example of an actress that did less work as she got older. Sometimes it seems like Hollywood only allows old British women to keep acting after their beauty fades, or is it just me?

Can you believe Jane is 70? she doesnt look it..AT ALL! and her talent is amazing. she eclipses the "it girls" like J.Lo and Lindsay Lohan in their movies easily. It really is pathetic that a woman like Jane is not having her door beat down by hollywood for movies these days while a bloated old goat like Jack Nicholson is still being cast in roles where women young enough to be his DAUGHTER are "in love" with him

She's definately a woman of style and sophistication.

Jane Fonda is like Cher...she's going to say whatever she wants regardless....that's one of the reasons why i like her (and Cher) so much.

I've seen the Vagina Monologues a couple of years back and they have an ENTIRE SEGMENT in which the word "Cunt" is used REPEATEDLY...it becomes rather silly and hillarious at some point and that's the POINT of the segment, to get women to get over the "shock" and take away the negative power behind the word.

now of course you wont find me (or many women ) referring to our vaginas that way...but the V monologues really do serve a purpose beyond shock value and i dont see the big deal behind what Jane said. if this had happend over in Europe, the UK or some other country similar to ours ...it wouldnt have been an issue but of course we're probably going to see more and more "OUTRAGE" behind this that could rival Janet's 'nipplegate" scandal

i dont have a problem with it personally.

^^^ nor I. in fact i think its rather funny how what she said resulted in the "gasp" factor. What she said after that was even better imo but nobody is mentioning that.
