Interesting, Fun or Intellectual Concepts

Just like the thread sounds the internet is more than just porn and i think everyone here has pretty diverse interest so its time to share a few concepts that seem interesting or just too funny to keep to yourself. A few from me and my trekkie nerd self.

1. Schadenfreude - a german word loosely translated means taking malicious satisfaction in another person's troubles. the fact this is a word just makes me laugh.

2. Singularity - a technological concept of tech/science evolving to such a point that progress will accelerate beyond human capability to keep up resulting in a world that our mere human minds will be unable to understand or encounter without fundamentally changing.

3. Chaos magic - yeah say what you want that nut Morrison got me in and now the concept of sigil magic, neoshamanism and using subjective experience to change objective reality really fascinate me

now i refuse to be the weirdest person on this board so start posting no idea is too trivial or too intellectual.
 
You mean...like anything? Well...I have always been fascinated with the various theories on the concept of Parallel Universes, Alternate Realites, the idea of a Multiverse and then of course the idea of an Omniverse which holds an infinite number of Multiverses just like a Multiverse holds an infinite number of Parallel Universes. Plus I have always wanted to see who could win a Badminton Match between myself...and another version of myself.

I have also always been interested in the possibility of where Technology will take us when it finally reaches its apex. Will Humanity at some point in the distant future meld with technology and become something akin to the Borg or the Phalanx? Will our Technology exceed our Humanity and consume us (like so many Hollywood movies have told us) or will our Humanity exceed our Technology?

And last but not least...the Grandfather Paradox. You go back in time, possibly just to explore what life was when your Grandparents were young, there in that frame of time you fall in love with Woman and well...no need to go any further on those specific details. Anyways...you eventually return to your own timeline because you do not want to meddle any further in the past and you go just before the Woman has a chance to tell you she is Pregnant with your child. When you return to the present you decide to read up about her and it turns out...beyond all belief...that this woman is your Grandmother. But yet...if she was your Grandmother...and she became pregnant with your Father during the time that YOU were in the Past...means only one thing...you are your own freaking Grandfather! Now...this is the most outrageous, insane, and strangely enough sensible Theory I have ever heard of.

I mean...how could anyone deal with the knowledge that they are their own Grandfather or perhaps the Mother or Father of the person you believe to be your soulmate? Just like in the game Shadow Hearts: Covenant where one of the supporting characters whose been falling in love with the main character learns she is his Mother due to a Temporal Causality Loop which she travels through at the end of the game so that a Paradox does not unravel History as it is. I mean...the whole idea of Paradoxes like these just blow my mind into Oblivion. I urge some of you to look very, very closely at your elders and make sure their are no...blatantly obvious comparisons between you and your Grandfather/Grandmother, your Girlfriend's Dad, the Manager at the store you work at...because they could be another version of YOU!!! :aah:
