How do you feel now versus 10 years ago? for those of you who are younger, make it 5 years ago.

Do you feel better or worse about your life, where you live, your circumstances? Are you hopefull for the future or do you feel its a bleak picture?

You hear all these published results about how one gender is more depressed than the other or this group is more unhappy than that group etc but I've NEVER been polled for any of these surveys. The last time i was apart of any "survey" was when i was a "neilson household" back in Detroit. (did you know they actually PAY you to have one of those boxes in your home? lol)

Are you fatigued by all the election talk and have you ALREADY made up your mind on who your voting for?

I'm just curious to see how people feel about these things.

me personally? I'm definately not as happy as i was 10 years ago. I find that i'm more jaded and cynical (and yes, more bitchy LOL). I think things are alot more difficult (and needlessly so) , after living in Tennessee for 18 months, I believe there are alot more STUPID PEOPLE in this country than i ever thought there were before. Day to day living is a chore more often than not...money doesnt go as far as it used to.

...and yes, i AM fatigued by all the election chatter. its just like with anything else these days...OVERCOVERAGE by "the media"...I had already decided who i was voting for, but after carefull (and hard) consideration I made a change of mind because if nothing else, i want to make SURE Mccain doesnt get into the white house.

I KNOW that things are harder than 10 years ago. How could they not be when gas is 3 1/2 to four times as expensive, food is about double what it was, and the job market is in the crapper.

I have decided who to vote for barring something extreme happening, and I am tired of the coverage already. I hate being fed BS, and it is getting high this election cycle so far...

BTW, who are we supporting now, Farrah?

I feel as a I am now I'm much MUCH more balanced and centered as an individual. When I was younger i was a more childish, more prone to irrationality, to be honest i was a bit out there on both side of the emotional spectrum. I guess now that I'm growth up a bit and found myself a little more I can just say I'm more in tune with myself. I'm relaxed and more confident.
Looking on the outside of things I prefer an optimistic outlook on things cause at times i feel if i don't the world is way too bleak. I know the world is a dark place and getting worst but I like to try to maintain a happy front if i can. At times when there seems to be too much hate, anger, intolerance and stupidity what else can a guy do but hope. Besides if a smile lights up someone else's world isn't it worth it?

I stay PERSONALLY happy but I have to say that things are not going as well in this country. I would be even happier if decent jobs were being made and if inflation wasn't kicking my ass.

cool thread

I'm much more understanding, mature, and level-headed now than I was five years ago. I think I relied more on rash decisions without thinking first or weighing the pros and cons. Its those bad decisions and hard lessons in life that have made me the person I am today. I wouldn't want to revert to that and I'm looking forward to turning twenty-five soon too.

I am upset at the absurd cost of gas, food, electric, and everything else in this country. Sometimes it would be easy to want to return to childhood or my teenage years. But in a way I wasn't ready to be thrust into the real world or wanting to grow up.

I think I've become more understand and cautious about my decisions. Granted, I do make a few errors here and there but overall I'm happy. I'm making more financial sound decisions even looking into stocks, bonds, etc. I'm thinking way ahead for when I eventually wanna retire when I'm old and gray lol. I wanna know I can be taken care of. I think my future is bright and my goals are being completed one by one. I'm looking forward to moving out of New York to Seattle. It'll be thrilling to be thrust into a new environment that's gorgeous and filled with vast job opportunities. Plus my best friend is out there too, so I think that would be good.

I too grow sick of seeing coverage on the news and newspapers that I don't bother watching it. Its all cut throat and does nothing to rally anyone, just make them look bad. I've known who I want and I haven't been derailed from that decision. Both my mother and I are voting for the same candidate and we're both excited about it. But, like Farrah, I too would rather see anyone else but Mccain in office, the guy's an ass.

I think the future can be bright with the right person running this country. I look at life with the 'glass is half full' outlook. So, anything is possible. But, I do know we need some serious change if we are to prosper otherwise my ass is moving to Europe lol.

Five years ago I was in high school, had no bills, and only worried about where I was going Saturday nights and if my homework was done LOL. So yeah, things were definitely a hell of a lot easier for me back then.

However, I like myself better now than five years ago. I'm more confident in myself and I don't take people's shit like I used to. I've grown drastically as a person and speak up more for what I believe in. So finanically, five years ago was better, but I like myself better now than I did back then. ;) If that makes any sense. LOL

As for the election, I just want it to be over with already. I want Bush out of office and hopefully a democrat in.
