"Somebody had to make a tough phone call to Betty White today: TV Land has canceledHot in Cleveland.

The sitcom has run for six seasons on the basic cable channel, and co-starred White, Valerie Bertinelli and Jane Leeves. The show followed three entertainment industry veterans from Los Angeles who lease a Cleveland home from a sassy caretaker. The series also launched a spin-off starring Cedric the Entertainer called The Soul Man, which has run three seasons.

Statement from TV Land: “After five incredible seasons of Hot in Cleveland, the sixth season, currently in production, will be its last. It’s been an honor to work with Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves, Wendie Malick and the incomparable Betty White as well as our executive producers Suzanne Martin, Todd Milliner, Sean Hayes and the rest of our exceptional writers, production team and crew. The passion and talent they brought to the set each and every week over the past 5 years has put TV Land on the map as a network dedicated to quality original programming. We will continue to celebrate the show and are looking forward to a fantastic series finale.”

The sixth and final season debuted Nov. 5."

Sad news for sure, but I think the show in general did way better than expected and I have to admit, I thought it was a pretty damn funny show, especially for something on TV Land. Do you think if it had been on another network, maybe a more mainstream one it would have lasted longer? Still SIX seasons is NOTHING to lose sleep about, that's a pretty good run nowadays.

This was a major success for TVLand in terms of original programming. I watched it several times & it WAS funny & I like that it featured so many small screen vets. In an industry that is quick to discard someone as "typecast" or "too old" it was good to see ppl who have talent & longevity in action.
