I find myself wondering if karma or "justice" are even real sometimes.

Do you think there'll ever be true justice for the atrocities humans have committed against each other through the centuries? (genocides, slavery, culture destruction, jim crow etc etc).

many historians & social experts agree that there was certainly something of an about-face the world over following WW2 but it seems like things are steadily heading back in that direction again.

Will there ever be real justice for those who have been wronged, will history once again repeat itself?

What do you think.

The Holocaust is what made people realize that they can't just sit around and do nothing. The Holocaust is what made the entire world say, "Never again."

The Holocaust is still happening, only it goes by a different name now: genocide. Where are we during the Darfur crisis? Sure, it's pretty cool that George Clooney, Matt Damon, and those guys are raising awareness but they're humans. They can't do it alone.

Where were we during the Rwandan genocide of 94? Where are we now during the Ugandan crisis [Joseph Kony et al]? There's so many other instances I could name but that would be a pretty large post.

We always seem to have 'learned' from the Holocaust but we never actually do anything when it comes back.

I believe the saying is correct: "If we don't learn from our history, we're doomed to repeat it over and over."

There is no true justice in the world. I'm thinking there are a handful of former Nazis running around somewhere [or rolling in a wheelchair as they must be pretty old by now]. Even Josef Mengele fled to South America to escape capture [and the fact that we know this is what scares me; he should've been in prison as soon as people got word of his whereabouts]. Joseph Kony is still kicking around somewhere. Hell, I even read in a Toronto newspaper about how some victims of the Rwandan genocide have even come face to face with their tormentors in Toronto!

How many more genocides must it take, how many more holocausts must it take, how many more such and such must it take before we come to the conclusion that we CAN'T LET THIS HAPPEN? EVER!

thoughts like this give me hope that @ least some ppl are AWARE. that's key in trying to avoid repeating mistakes of the past. :)
