Huge Game of Thrones news: Ian McShane is coming to Westeros! The Emmy-winning British actor is joining Thrones season 6, EW has learned exclusively. The move returns the formerDeadwood star to HBO for a role on the international fantasy sensation.

The show’s tight-lipped production will not reveal any details about McShane’s character, who’s coming on board for the most mysterious season yet. Thrones is preparing to dive headlong into narrative territory not yet revealed in author George R.R. Martin’s novels (and despite that opening sentence, McShane’s character could theoretically appear in Westeros or Essos or somewhere in between).

We can tell you, however, that sources say McShane has a relatively small amount of screen-time during the season, yet his character is of key importance.

I don't much care for that whole small amount of screen-time but any screen time is alright in my book. Bring it on.

Eh, he's not my favorite. But I trust the GOT people so...

I've been savoring this past season so I'm only a few eps in, but if I had to guess...

Jon Connington, Euron Greyjoy or the Tattered Prince

I would guess other people...

so how can you savor the past season.. don't you get spoilered? I mean.. there for a time EVERYONE was talking aspects of it.

I am really good about avoiding spoilers when I want to :D I'm sure I will finish up this month though.

I'm just reading Dance with Dragons now because I didn't want to get to the end, so I saved it up lol

You are amazing! I can't imagine being able to avoid the spoilers.. they are everywhere when you don't expect them.

Have you got World of Ice & Fire? I would recommend getting it.. it's an amazing hardcover book. It feels and looks lush. Very impressive.. and it's a good, quick read.

But seriously, if nothing else, you need to ambulate into a real life bookstore and behold the splendor. Reach out and touch it.

So now they have cast Max von Sydow for another 'small but crucial" part. Interesting some of the casting.

Hmm my response to you yesterday didn't post so here it is:

I don't have that, but that would be SO useful I think.

As for MVS - that really makes me think these two are Euron One-Eye and Aeron Damphair

No, they actually already said who MVS was/is... he's said to be the Three Eyed Raven. There was talk that McShane was going to play the mad king in a flashback. The Mad King, Al Swearengen would be awesome!

And the book is VERY useful.. I actually (hangs head in shame) have bought it in hardcover and as a download.. Hardcover for to read, and digital to take notes.

Their not spoilers!!! nothing is ... okay, screw it.. sorry!! At least I didn't say 'I cant believe they killed Brienne!'

edit: the Brienne thing was a joke by the way... or was it?

Yes, they aren't spoilers, I agree. Just didn't think of a better term to use. Obviously I'm avoiding all GOT articles until I finish watching last season. :)

You didnt finish the book either did you, so potentially spoilers really WOULD be spoilers.

Right, still at the part in the last book
Wow. It amazes me that you haven't spoilered yourself.

You know the one thing I hate about the show is the aging.. specifically Bran. Looks like such a different actor, certainly doesn't look like a 'kid' any more.

Kind of hard to keep him from aging lol

But yeah, I think all the Stark kids were much younger in the books even than they made them on the show, so now it's even more pronounced. I think Sansa's supposed to still be like 13 or 14 lol and Dany's like 15 or something

I agree.. and that's part of the problem I have with it.. minor problems, mind you, but Dany's actions and behavior in books seem more inline with a 15 year old whereas contrasting it to the show it almost makes her seem.. I dont know. Flighty?

The aging is not as noticeable until you rewatch it. But man, compare the first episode to now and you can really see the difference. I should go back and watch the first season of TWD and see how much little Carl changed.
