White House Memo Justifies Drone Strikes On U.S. Citizens | Here Now

and

'Judge, jury and executioner': Legal experts fear implications of White House drone memo - U.S. News

This reads very badly & is source of concern. The atty general says these strikes are "legal" & "ethical"...so much for a clear interpretation of the law :sure:

this seems to tie in to that controversial NDAA that was passed last year but then the white house claimed parts of (such as the indefinite detention of american citizens w/out due process) it were removed or watered down in revised legislation.

The atty general also claims this is the government's effort to "keep american's safe". i was always taught that if you spend alot of time LOOKING for trouble, you're bound to find it & it'll be more than you bargained for. all of this makes me wonder what are they REALLY planning for.

& then there's this: Gov't agencies purchasing huge quantities of high powered ammunition

the above link isn't the original article but it's the only thing i could find that most closely referred to the original article about the NOAA, DHS, SSA & other gov't agencies purchasing huge quantities of ammunition...the kind that does maximum damage to a human body when fired. Of course SINCE that article & the wave of attention it gained, it's been dismissed by a spokesperson of the NOAA as a "Clerical error"....call me parnoid, but i've heard better "cover ups" on a resident evil movie! LOL :haha:

It just really makes me wonder what's going on....is there something coming that the general populace is truly not aware of?

What are your thoughts?

Two things i have noticed that I think might prompt some of this.

1) More and more terrorist groups targeting the recruitment of Americans, especially young ones with no criminal record.

2) The proliferation of hate groups in the US, particularly race war nuts following the election for Obama each time and apocalyptic groups stockpiling weapons in order to "take on the government".

Think about how scary (1) is. An American in Al Qaeda could move freely and set up something horrible if we simply sat back and waited for him to do something wrong. He could even escape surveillance for a short time and that could be disastrous. If we brought him in there is no way he could be prosecuted with classified information and the airing of that material could put US lives at risk in the field. So what do we do with them? We hammer them with the rest of the terrorists and this finding establishes a legal answer for the questions to come.

As for (2), there is no doubt in my mind that right now there are individuals and small groups who are too tough and well-armed for local law enforcement to deal with. So I believe that there is unprecedented thought put into what we do when (not if) a group runs afoul of the law and attempts an armed resistance. Remember, the secession petitions garnered thousands of signatures for each state that did it. Just a fraction of those people, well armed, would require a military-level response.

All of this is not my favorite things to consider but the precedent is established: the federal government will not allow a challenge to its authority by a state and definitely not by a group of armed individuals.

That is what I think is going on.

thinking about those idiots who were pushing for secession, I really wonder how much thought they gave to that & what it would mean for them. their hatred for obama trumped their logic & common sense. they'd be completely cut off from the rest of the US in more than one way, most notably the FEDERAL AID that their state(s) DEPENDS on. that's what so ironic about those states to me.....the ones shouting the loudest for secession are the ones shown to be MOST dependent on gov't aid!

& i can see what you're saying. my concern then is, what about the REST of us who want no part of that b.s.!?

A valid concern.

But my question back would be: what can he do differently?

People are saying he should be tried for treason and hanged. People are saying that he is an illegitimate President and that it may be time for overthrow. People are resisting reasonable gun control laws not on the basis of freedom, but SPECIFICALLY on the basis that they may need to resist the government by force. There are people who claim that they are personally sovereign and can choose which laws to obey. Some people think it OK to come to his speeches armed or to have Gun Rallies.

For the rest of us who want no part of that, we have to understand that at some point there needs to be a prepared response to some of this zealotry and craziness and it unfortunately will have to begin with men and women willing to put such a resistance down very hard as needed.

After 4 years there is still talk I have never heard when referring to our government , our President and his family. I cannot blame him for being prepared for the worst.

yeah i've seen/heard it all too & it's ridiculous & MOST of it is just "coded" racism unleashed. i mean damn...the FOUNDER of the "birther" movement is a woman who HERSELF isnt a natural born american citizen! I NEVER understood why THAT movement gained traction, why SHE was given a platform to talk the stupid talk she's now famous for. That woman didnt even become a legal united states citizen till 1987!

The gun control argument is ridiculous. I'm a gun owner & I have NO problem w/ loopholes (like the gunshow loophole) & other things being closed up & more safety measures put in place b/c it's OBVIOUS that there's a problem here. You know what else is interesting (& hypocritical) is that many of the ppl hollering the loudest AGAINST any gun control reform are the SAME ppl who CALLED FOR gun control against groups like the black panthers or the [black] ppl in detroit during the riots in the late 60s & early 70s. but yet its supposed to be okay for the tea party (among others) to go to town hall meetings & stand outside of gov't buildings w/ their weapons fully loaded & ready to fire? its bullshit plain & simple.

guns dont provide nourishment. these gun nuts think having guns w/ enough power to demolish cars & more is somehow the answer to everything

I can see where you're coming from though & it makes sense. but then I wonder, after obama is out of office & w/ all these things in place, what happens if the next president we get is a right wing (tea party) lunatic? are we going to become the 21rst century nazi germany? ppl call Obama hitler (which is stupid) but they seem to forget that hitler came from a FAR RIGHT ideology & took power on a wave of fear, bigotry & nationalism which is what is plaguing the US now.
