Persephone was so relieved that Alek was happy and told him as much. She told him she was afraid he wouldn't be happy about her pregnancy. He gently kissed her temple before pulling back to look at her.
Alek: "Why would you think that? I love our daughter. I love our family. And you are a fantastic mom."
She held onto his hands, looking down at them.
"Because you were so scared after Lily was born..."
She said honestly. She knew he loved Lily with all his heart, but she was afraid he wouldn't want to risk it with this pregnancy. But he put her mind at ease saying he was thrilled they were having another baby, and they both discussed how they would take precautions with this pregnancy. That they would go to the same doctor that delivered Lily since she already knew that Persephone was high risk. She was still scared and overwhelmed, but now she felt the excitement an happiness that came along with her first pregnancy. She hugged Alek tightly with a smile, exclaiming that they were going to have another baby.
Alek leaned down to her stomach like he had with Lily and kissed it.
Alek: "Hi baby...this is your Daddy...I love you so much..."
Persephone warmly smiled, running her hand back through his hair. There was nothing they could do that moment that would change anything, so there was no reason to leave the cabin early to go to the doctors at Greece.
"We'll go back to Greece tomorrow like planned. I don't want to disappoint Lily....she was so looking forward to playing with the wolves today."
Alek already looked worked.
Alek: "I can go with her..."
"I know. We'll play it by ear...if i'm not feeling up to if you can go with Lily and i'll rest, okay?"
She wanted to put his mind at ease. And as if on cue, they both heard Lily knocking on the door calling out to them.
"I don't want to tell her yet....not until after we've spoken to the doctor..."
Alek: "Agreed. But we'll have to decide how to tell her."
She nodded, hoping that Lily would be excited and not jealous or upset. That made Persephone anxious to think about...she never wanted Lily to think they didn't love her enough or that they were replacing her.
"Maybe she'll want a new pony..."
Persephone joked, although she was a little serious. Then Alek leaned in an kissed her and Persephone smiled once again.
Alek: "I love you. And you've made me so incredibly happy."
"I love you too, baby."
She ran her hand down his cheek and smiled as he got up and got dressed.
"I'll be down soon. I just need to moment to relax."
Alek nodded and headed downstairs to get breakfast started for Lily. Sighing out, Persephone laid back down in bed, her mind still racing but her body finally relaxing after a stressful morning. Running her hand along her stomach, she still couldn't believe she was pregnant. She never thought she would have one child, and now she was pregnant with her second.
"Alright....we need to make this as smooth as possible little one. You sister gave me a hard time when she came out, so I need you to be a little easier, okay? And if you are, I promise you can have a pony....two ponies. Hell, i'll get you a whole pony family."
Persephone smiled to herself as she joked with the baby. But in all seriousness, she truly hoped that the delivery would be a smoother one in comparison to Lily's. She didn't care if the pregnancy aspect was harder; if she was exhausted or throwing up or moody. Although she felt bad for Alek if she was moody, but she would take all the negatives during pregnancy to make up for a safe and easy delivery.
Finally after about ten minutes, Persephone slipped on some warm sweat pants and a zip up sweat shirt and headed downstairs. She could see Lily happily eating some cereal with Alek at the dining room table.
"Morning, sweetheart."
Lily looked over with a big smile, slipping out of her chair.
Lily: "Mama!"
She ran pretty roughly into Persephone's stomach, wrapping her arms around her waist hugging her.
"Whoa...careful there, little flower."
Lily: "We can play with the wolves today, right?! After breakfast! Right?!"
She was so excited she was bouncing as she held Persephone, looking up with her little chin resting on Persephone's stomach. Smiling down at Lily, she brushed back her chair.
"Of course. Daddy and I promised you!"
Lily: "YAY! They have baby puppies again! I bet they're so cute!"
Persephone lifted her eyes to Alek, smiling at her mentioning how cute a puppy was. Walking with Lily back to her seat, she helped her back into her chair.
"You need to finish breakfast first."
Lily nodded and Persephone sat down next to her and Alek, instinctively putting her hand across her stomach.
Lily: "You're not having breakfast, mommy?"
She gave Lily a gentle smile.
"No, i'm not hungry baby. I might have something before we go see the wolves."
She reassured Lily as her hand slid along Alek's forearm under the table and into his hand, interlinking their fingers together.
