So I know there are alot of Golden Girls fans on the board so I was wondering how many Designing Women fan there are out there?

Designing Women was a sitcom that focused on four friends who worked in a Design Firm in Georgia!

There was the elegant and outspoken (to say the least) Julia Sugarbaker played by the amazing Dixie Carter. Julia's sassy and ever narcissistic ex beauty queen Suzanne Sugarbaker played hilariously by Delta Burke.

And of course to round the girls out was the best friend and often partner in crime Mary Jo Shively played by Annie Potts and the goofy and often aloof Charlene Frazer Stillfield played by the gorgeous Jean Smart!

And who could forget Bernice played by Alice Ghostly!?!

The show tackled MANY feminist issues in the world at the time and was a pretty hilarious satire of the women's struggle. I LOVED this show, the cast changed alot over the years. Any fans?

My favorite was Julia Sugarbaker, I loved when she went off on her tirades, verbally eviscerating her prey.. reminding me a little bit of our own Farrah!!!

Here are some examples of Julia's outbursts!

of course I remember this show. A fine example of witty, comedic writing and a perfectly balanced cast.

obviouly Julia Sugarbaker was my favorite. I remember Dixie Carter from as far back as her stint on "Diff'rent Strokes" as Mr. Drummond's girlfriend/wife.

I liked ALL of the women for various reasons but Julia resonated with me. She was the obvious leader. stern but with a heart beneath the exterior, like me. very progressive in her thinking and willing to stand up for those who couldnt defend themselves, also like me.

let's not forget Meshach Taylor, who played "Anthony". He lent a nice supporting touch.

Its a shame the behind the scenes drama that played out about Delta Burke's weight that lead to her leaving the show. It was never quite the same after she and Jean Smart left in the later seasons.

Funny quote I remember from Roseanne that ties in. The power is out and they are telling ghost stories and Roseanne is up next...

"Once upon a time, there were four women who all lived in this huge mansion, and they ATE every man that ever entered the house, except for one who they used as a servant, and..."

Darlene: "Mom, that's not a ghost story.. that's Designing Women!"

LOL that quote is hilarious!

I'm a fan of Designing Woman as well. I always enjoyed both Julia and Mary Jo. Julia because she was a 'take no shit' type of woman that always had the best one liners. And Mary Jo because she had that sarcastic attitude that made all her jokes hilarious.

Each woman was great, but I agree with Farrah, once Delta Burke and Jean Smart left the show it wasn't the same. I know when I watch the reruns and it isn't the original 4 woman I tune out.
