Marvel insists on adapting their comics to the big screen in live action format. No doubt the costs are huge with special effects, big name actors and actresses and these days even before the first installment comes out, one or two sequels is already on the drawing board. its like they just KNOW they have "hit after hit" on their hands. But most of them dont bear that out. they might have a strong one day opening or weekend opening but they drop off and while the $$ might look right, reviews are generally mixed.
DC on the other hand has wisely choose to adapt many of their titles to animation format on the small screen w/ DVDs and they seem to enjoy greater fan reception and generation strong $$ take in. It costs alot less, they can remain more loyal to the storylines/continuity and it just seems like they have a better overall formula for their crossovers.
Why doesnt Marvel take a hint? With such disappointments as the X-men films not to mention the Wolverine spin off, Daredevil, Elektra you'd think they'd stop and reassess. Now Captain America is coming out, Thor and Avengers are soon to follow.
