So Halle Berry is obviously NOT cut out to play the role of Storm or any OTHER female comic character (CatWoman anyone?)

Who SHOULD have been cast as Storm? Would it have made a difference?

i personally feel the PERFECT actress to play Storm would have been Angela Bassett. She had the look (notice her eyes especially), the VOICE, and she would have given storm that strong, hard, yet regal and intimidating edge that Claremont gave to her for more than 15 years.

other choices?

I agree with two on your list... Wasn't alot of storm's style, etc. based on Iman? I think Iman is absolutley stunning, and while I can't speak on her acting chops, just her PRESENCE is strong and regal, she LOOKS like she controls the weather.

Angela Bassett would have been perfect, the bone structure on that woman is to die for and she can play a strong and well rounded character, just look at her track record!
 
Larry Fishbuourne's wife. I cannot think opf her name, would also be good for that. I would have preferred a younger, tougher woman than Berry.

I dont think a YOUNGER actress would work for the role of Storm. the problem is that Brian Singer (aka IDIOT OBSESSED WITH WOLVERINE) marginalized Storm and didnt at ALL do her the justice she deserved. If you look at Storm from the time Phoenix II committed suicide all the way through the Inferno and even during the Blue/Gold team era...the woman was TRULY a force of nature even during the period WITHOUT her powers.

a younger (and most likely less experienced actress, one who may not have even READ up on Storm..at least Halle did THAT much) actress would not have worked (imo).

Angela was the most obvious choice and even Wizard magazine listed her as an ideal casting for Storm back with the first X-men movie was finally greenlighted for production.
 
I think i'm the only person who enjoys Halle as Storm here. lol. So I wouldn't recast her. But if I HAD to, i'd say Vanessa Williams.
 
When I read the thread preview before opening this thread and reading your post, but initial reaction was Iman.

Vanessa Willaims who starred on the first season of Melrose Place and the HBO series Soul Food?

Vanessa L. Williams who was in the big screen version of Soul Food and who appears on "Ugly Betty"?
 
Vanessa Williams from Ugly Betty. She's beautiful and a strong woman. Both traits needed for Storm.
 
Well, I am most certainly glad that I’m not the only one who didn’t like Halle Berry as Storm…I mean, Halle Berry is one of my favorite actresses; talented and sexy! But, Storm is so much more than that. Halle REALLY didn’t portray her with enough depth, class, or whatever else she was lacking in the film version of X-Men. :p

If I had to cast someone else to be Storm I’d probably agree with Persephone, but in my opinion NO ONE can perfectly measure up to the greatness that is Storm [my favorite comic book character back when I had yet to read a comic book]. A friend of mine has this idea that Storm should be played by Tyra Banks…I totally almost BARFED in her face, but that’s just my opinion. Tyra rocks…but Storm? Uhmm…NO!

Again…Halle Berry rocks, but X-Men movie casting SUCKS!!!!!
