Borg VS the Dominion

I say the Borg. They have been around far longer than the Dominion, they are more experienced than the Dominion and their arsenal of weapons have been gathered from millions of worlds, millions of civilizations. The Jem`Hadar may have been genetically engineered for combat but not on Borg terms. The Founders would have to breed a new stock which takes far too long as it is. Most of the Dominion would be counted among the Borg before the Founders had perfected a new breed. They would stand virtually no chance of winning and since Shape Shifters cannot be assimilated (well maybe but probably not) The Founders would find themselves being burned alive by Borg Cube Phasers.

the Dominion's main asset is their ability to pretty much throw their army at a problem. they have nearly endless cannon fodder when in their own quadrant. Remember the only reason the Federation had a shot of winning the war is cause they kept the Dominion cut off. The Borg maintain their send one ship a year attitude when it comes to attacking the Dominion have more than enough time to create solders and technology specifically to fight them. I think they can create an army big and strong enough to challenge the Borg.

i'm not a a 'hard core trekkie' and deep space nine was not my favorite series of Star Trek, "Next Generation" was what i grew up with. Persephone, on this board, is a huge Deep Space Nine fan...and i know she hasnt seen this thread yet other wise she wouldve commented by now.

I know more about the borg for TNG and i dont even REMEMBER the dominion.

sounds like the dominion are pretty insidious but the borg have a highly structured, methodical way of doing things.

i think the dominion (from what i'm reading) could pose a serious threat to the borg though because they can NATURALLY adapt to the borg's tactics.

honestly, i feel like the borg lost their intimidation factor after a while, so the dominion seem more intriguing to me because i dont remember them well.

Actually, i'm a huge Voyager fan (and TNG) Spells. ;) I wasn't a huge fan of DS9 either, but i'm somewhat familiar with the Dominion.

I agree the Dominion are pretty damn powerful, not only in numbers, but in weaponry, but I seriously doubt they would defeat the Borg. The Borg are meant to adapt to any life form or technology thrown at them. They gain knowledge by assimilation. And even though the Dominion have a vast army, the Borg collective has billions of drones spread throughout every quadrant. I'm not entirely sure if the Borg ever assimilated a Dominion before, but if they had, they would gain all technological and biological knowledge of that species within seconds. If they HADN'T, any species who have encountered the Dominion (which includes Starfleet) would provide vital information on the species as well. It gives them a huge advantage against the Dominion.

Plus, the Borg rule. :D Best Trek villians every. (wow, I feel like I complete nerd now. lol)

Plus who knows how far the Borg's reach spans? They do have transwarp hubs which can take them anywhere! Who's to say that they haven't already conquered other galaxies as well as parts of our own?

the Borg we know have made attempts to conquer other realms of space. challenging species 8472 (who i wish i thought of putting in this thread) in fluidic space

You know in the episode Parallels there was an Enterprise which had come from a Universe where the Borg had conquered the Galaxy. If they conquered the Galaxy as a whole then that means the kicked Dominion Ass after the Federation, Romulans, Klingons, etc. all became Borg.

but as all good trekkies know alternate universes are not the same as our. theres no telling what differences there maybe between worlds and who that may effect their causalities.

That is true. The Dominion may have not come to power in that Universe or perhaps they became the last defense against the Borg in the Gamma Quadrant. In which case we would technically have the same scenario but on different terms.

my main thing is that as fearsome as the Borg are they never go for the full all out assault they always send one maybe two cubes at a time over a long period of time and against the dominion this tactic will not work and allow time for them to adapt to dealing with the Borg.

Well I am sure they changed that rule after the Species 8472 wars. Alot has probably changed since the events of ST:VOY. A lot of them died but a majority definately survived and realized it was time for new tactics, new strategies on assimilation and warfare because everyone else is getting stronger while they stay seated in time.

I believe the main reason the Borg only send one of two ships is BECAUSE they're so advanced in terms of assimilating species. Even though they're linked to one mind, they're collectively cocky and know what they're capable of doing. I mean, they HAVE conquered billions of civilizations throughout the years.

They're very savvy in terms of attacks. They won't send one or two ships if they're intending to assimiliate an entire world. So if they WERE to go up against the Dominion in an all out war, you better damn believe they would have hundreds of ships. Look at species 8472. They opened a spacial rift into their world in the middle of Borg space so they could send as many ships in there to assimilate and conquer them. When they want something assilimiated or destoryed, they will send more than one or two ships to get it done.
