CBS conjures up a "Bewitched" revamp

LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - Add another re-imagined TV classic onto the heap.

Following on the heels of its "Hawaii Five-0" revamp -- not to mention ABC's upcoming "Charlie's Angels" remake -- CBS has ordered a script for a "Bewitched" revamp, an individual with knowledge of the project confirmed to TheWrap.

If they do the same job they did on Hawaii 5-0, then okay, but the way I expect they'll screw the show over I'll pass.

im still traumatized by Penny Marshall's big screen treatment of this beloved series. Usually she does good work, but she needed her ass whipped for that bullshit film. :sure: of course we're all gonna want to know who is cast as Samantha Stevens, Darrin & Endora.

Oh dear lord...

I didn't even see the movie and I never wanted to; I can only imagine what debacle a tv show will do. Nobody can play Samantha better than Elizabeth Montgomery. Nobody.

its like the 80's are starting all over again with these remakes Thundercats and Transformers cartoons, Charlie's Angels and Bewitched on network TV. sad sad days for originality

This is horrible. First Charlies Angels [which looks like shit judging from the previews] and now Bewitched?!? They need to leave the classics alone. The movie was bad enough [even though I think if done right, Nicole Kidman would have been a great Samantha at the time], don't mess with the tv show. Oh well, i'm interested in finding out who they cast as Samantha. I, of course, would love to play her. hehehe.

Anyone else hear that a possible Dallas remake is also underway?

I agree w/ you! I heard that the new Charlie's Angels had a booth @ ComicCon & they where there but nobody seems to be really impressed about it or them.

I knew that after Nightmare on Elmstreet was touched by the remake virus...NOTHING i held dear & sacred in the way of classics was off limits anymore but i thought Penny Marshall's CRAPTACULAR big screen version of Bewitched was as far as it would go w/ this. Sadly i was wrong

Nicole Kidman was spot on casting for Samantha Stevens & had the whole thing been done better she wouldve shined in that role. but if nothing else, the moment Will Ferrell was cast as Darrin? That was a WRAP right there :judge:

I just heard on TV that they cast Beyonce in a remake of "A Star Is Born". *roll eyes*. And they explained that Hollywood is obsessed with remakes because they're so nervous to put out money for movies that might flop, that they try to pick things that they know have a fan base or people know of.
