New York — Blackwell’s Asylum to Manhattan
She expelled a relieved breath as the helicopter lifted off, taking her away from her prison. She was free, finally. She was going to have her revenge on that little would-be usurper Gia, at last. It was the malice in her heart that had kept her going all this time, that kept her sane. The malice, and the rapport with Ettore.
She glanced down to see Split C staring up at her, watching her go, arms crossed and hair whipping under the torrent of wind created by the chopper blades. Was it guilt she felt a twinge of? Couldn’t be, though she was the reason the woman was stuck at Blackwell’s, in an indirect way. She had sent the call girl to seduce the former White King in retaliation against the former Queen for her father’s imprisonment. Diana had fractured her mind as punishment.
At the salon, they restored Adriana’s hair to a nice spun-gold blonde, and applied makeup to a face that hadn’t been allowed it in years. When they were done she felt like herself again, and looked like herself as well. Ettore presented her with a large but flat rectangular box, embossed and decorated cardboard, the kind for clothing. She opened it to find exactly that. It was a pristine white, with a strapless bodice and a black belt across the waist.
“You bought me a dress?”
Ettore: Not exactly. I know how.... active... you are.
“It’s even the right colors.”
She marveled as she opened it up for further inspection. It reminded her of a keikogi, a very sexy one, though. Not at all regulation for any of the martial arts she practiced. It reminded her of her strength. She favored him with a smile and went to the bathroom to change out of the staid gray crazy girl pajamas she’d been made to wear at the asylum. When she emerged, Ettore beamed at her, holding his arms outstretched.
Ettore: Madame, you’re positively striking. Are you hungry?
“Starving.”
Ettore: I know just the place for breakfast.
He replied with a devious smirk as his hand slid around her waist to rest on the small of her back and guide her out of the salon and to the waiting limo at the curb.
