Talisman: "You can start by drinking a glass of water and telling me what troubles you."
Ben grumbled for a moment as he grabbed a glass and poured from the pitcher of ice water at the bar as she downed it with ease, the cup appearing small in his hands. She may not have been his mother, but even as a child it was clear that Talisman had been tasked with disciplining him, and keeping him in line. She was the closest thing resembling a parental figure to him, though he was not treated as one of her children. There was a clear divide, but it was all Ben had.
"Forgive me..I'm just..
[somberly]
"tonight that is the night.."
Kelly:"That your father died. I remember."
She said it with such ease and yet such a bitterness behind her words. His entire life, Kelly had told him nothing but terrible stories about his father. What a failure he was. How little of a man he was, and he could never be sure if it was because she hated HIM so much or his father. The story was no different tonight. Ben's temporary high was beginning to ware off.
Kelly: "You cannot continue to grieve him as you do, Ben. He may have been your father, but he was not a man you would want to know. Believe me."
She reached out for his hand, a moment of rare intimacy, despite her hands being ice cold. This was a side of Kelly that had did not often see, and it was beginning to trouble him.
"That should have been for ME to decide, Kel--your Queen."
He hissed with a bit of anger. Ben was sick of not being able to make any decisions. Not about his life, not about his own body. Ben was growing very tired of the man he had become, and Kelly was bringing out a great deal of anger.
Kelly: "Well he made that decision for you, boy. That is just the reality of the situation. Would you really respect a man who had ended his own life rather than deal with the consequences of his own actions. He is the polar opposite of you, Benjamin."
"UGGHRRR!"
His chest heaved as he looked at Talisman who seemed somehow compassionate and understanding.
Ben: "I feel like I have failed you in some way, Ben."
"No."
Ben couldn't afford to lose anymore people in his life, so even the dubious ones he preferred to keep close. He had known Kelly his entire life. He pleaded.
"No, Talisman. Not at all. You let me stay here. I owe my life to you."
She did not seem pleased with his answer.
Kelly:"But I've kept something from you. Something I should have told you a long time ago...and something, I really feel would have changed your life for the better."
"What is she about to tell me...?!"
He wanted to scream at her, but he needed to know more.
Kelly: "You are not the only child of Finn Lewis that lives in these walls, Ben. There is another, someone you know very well.."
Ben's blood ran cold, the words seeming to activate something very deep inside of him. He had a sibling? His mind was not running as quickly as he would have liked.
Benjamin: "Whha..Who? Kelly-Who is it?"
She took a dramatic pause and smuldered her eyes, giving him a remorseful and pervase look. He was dying with antcipation.
"It's..it's Erika King."
"ARRRGGHH!!"
He threw the night stand across the room with ease as he FLEXED his muscles with rage, a bit of stone developing on his right fist for a moment, before shifting back to skin. He was PISSED.
"You mean to tell me that ERIKA KING IS MY SISTER?! AND YOU DIDN'T THINK I SHOULD KNOW ABOUT IT?"
Benjamin lost it as he drew back his hand, ready to punch her in the head.
Talisman: "Compose yourself or I will end your miserable life this very instant. And you won't know a thing about your sister."
He immediately recoiled, doing his best to calm the rage rising within him. He had felt like a ghost his entire life, and now Talisman was telling him that right under his nose, he had a sister, one that was treated VERY differently in the mansion than he was, despite them sharing one hell of a genetic resemblence. How could Talisman have let him live like he lived?
"You...are a monster for not telling me."
She nodded to him.
Kelly: "I am."
[she paused]
Kelly: "But I could have never told you. I get some credit for that. Seeing you here now, I realize my mistake. I realize that I robbed you of a life. This is my way of beginning to make it up to you."
Ben was unsure what to say, worried this was one of her sick little games. Kelly had a real way of getting into people's heads, her impressive vocabulary and ability to think on her feet made her formidable when she wanted to be, and with so many changes going on around the mansion, one he now felt more ownership over, he was worried that she was plotting something. But she had also just given him an incredible gift.
"If I find out you are lying to me, Kelly..I will ensure that it will be I who lands the blow that takes you down...in the name of my reigning Queen.."
His eyes darted back and forth on the ground, his mind racing. He looked up to her.
"What are you getting from this? What is this...play you're trying to run?"
Talisman: "You can start by drinking a glass of water and telling me what troubles you."
