A Weekend Affair # 1 - The Great White Reception

Aquarius

The London Black Queen arrived like a tornado, and Alek made sure to charm her, telling her how beautiful she looked.

"I always look beautiful."

"Yes, that's obvious. But you don't share the distinctly haggard look that some women can get after air travel."

He watched her put a glass of hemlock to her lips with interest, then let her comments about his court roll off his shoulders. He'd investigate that later; right now, he focused on smoothing things over, without being a pussy about it.

Brienne said:
"Mmmmm....you're smooth, full of shit, but smooth. I appreciate that."

He chuckled, decided he liked her (at least enough to try to fuck her) and gave her his best flirtatious look. She smiled, and seemed less likely to storm out of the place, so he moved closer and suggestively asked what they should do together.

Brienne said:
"If you have to ask that, i'm beginning to question your reputation."

"Well, we can't have that, now can we?"

She ran her hand down the front of him, and when she stopped at his belt, for a moment he thought she was going to put it down his slacks. Not that he would have protested. He returned her gaze, all but forgetting that Archer was still there.

"After all, it is my duty to make sure you have a good time."

Brienne said:
"But what would your Queen think?"

He smiled, eyes crinkling at the corners, then leaned in to whisper in her ear.

"That I'm entertaining our guests to the extent they deserve."

He pulled back and glanced at Archer.

"How about a tour of the mansion? Archer, you don't mind if I borrow your Queen for a while, do you?"

Savage told the princess she had to change, or be changed. There was flash of spirit in her eyes, and AJ smiled wide enough to show his canines. It was always fun when the prey put up a fight. Then the little faerie intervened, unfortunately.

Bretta: Come along, Cass, and we’ll find you a new dress.

Savage waited and watched as they disappeared into a private room. Then he started scanning the party again. He moved around as he looked about, searching for any threats to the pack. Jack nearly ran straight into him, and AJ looked at him curiously. He seemed to be hurried.

"The Queen's okay??"

Savage asked, his only concern. Jack shook his head, pointing over to where She was.

Jack: She's fine, she's still speaking with the Europeans in White.

Savage looked that way, to find his Queen was smiling at Liam and the Dead Thing. He felt the sharp knife of jealousy, that some other man was getting her smile.

She's only pretending to be friendly..... it's just business...

He told himself. Jack was rushing off for Heidi, but Savage was only paying attention to his Queen. He would be over there in an instant if something went wrong. He started to stalk closer.

John: "You're the one who used to date her."

"That I did."

And his drink suddenly needed to be refreshed. Thankfully a server came by and replaced it almost instantly. He had to give The White Court credit, if only for the fact that their wait staff was top notch.

"She didn't always used to be like that."

He commented on how good John looked.

John: "Thanks, but I can't seem to get anyone's attention but yours, mate."

Ben gestured with his hands towards the sea of women giving John passing glances and winks as they walked by. It was in that moment that Ben may have realized a little something about himself. He took another sip of his drink.

"I'd say you have your pick of the litter, John. Maybe you just don't have the attention of the ones you want."

"Well, this is awkward."

Ben had always had a somewhat confusing relationship with Ava, but it was clear that John was in love with her. He didn't show it by throwing her up against the wall and taking her, he showed it with his loyalty, with the way he protected her. He was her confidant, her bodyguard. To the bishop's knowledge, nothing salacious had ever transpired between them, but his constant presence around Ava had been one of the reasons Ben himself had never made a move on the Queen. Well that, and the number of deep psychological wounds that pulsated through him at any given moment. It didn't feel right to try and take her from him, when he had put in more work than all of them. Not that Ava was a trophy, it was more out of respect for John. But the fact that AVA of all people hadn't made a move told him that there was something that John hadn't given her..something she needed, and he wondered what it was. He decided to change the topic. John was not a delicate flower ready to spill his feelings, especially not to Ben. He was a wallflower, and there was a difference. He inquired about the courts.

John: "Well, so far, our visitors have been angling to talk with Ava, so that's good. Amanda has already touched base with the European White King and Queen. I'm sure Ava will want to speak to them also. That leaves the visiting Red Queen."

At the mention of the Red Queen, Ben's eyes shifted towards Cassandra and Bretta. It seemed as if the women were having a meeting of the minds, which led him to question the visiting Red Queen's mental state. Both of the men saw the look that Ava gave John as Ben cocked an intrigued eyebrow.

John: "You need to make sure Casandra doesn't embarrass us tonight, Ben - we'll handle the rest of it."

"Well, for once..Cassandra seems to be doing more good than harm. The Red Queen has taken a liking to her, which is surprising, but works in our favor. I'll be at the ready if I hear shouting or the firing off of energy signatures."

Ben finished his drink quickly, before giving a cheers gesture to John.

"I'll keep you posted, John, as always...but it appears you have been summoned."

[as he walked away]

"Cobra told me to have fun tonight..so I'll leave you with the same sentiment."

"See you around, mate."

Ava was a few glasses of champagne deep, not to mention a few glasses a hemlock as well. To say she was feeling calmer now was an understatement. Her mind was relaxed and so was her posture as she leaned her hip against one of the tables that lined the aquarium-like walls.

Cameron: "Ava..needing a moment for yourself so soon?"

Cameron's voice came from behind her causing Ava to turn to look over her shoulder. He was approaching with Haleigh, fingers linked as tightly as their marriage.

"Fairchild will do that to you."

She quipped with a smirk.

Cameron: "How..unlike you. Unless...You are about to make sweet passionate LOVE to somebody!"

He grabbed her arm and kissed it as if he were Gomez Addams making Ava finally crack a smile. Pulling her arm away, she pushed back Cameron teasingly with a small chuckle. He returned to his wife, once again taking her hand.

"I'm waiting to speak with my Rook, asshole."

She teased in jest, her relationships with Cameron, Haleigh, and Ashley far better than the one she had with the Alek. Gesturing to both of them with her flute of champagne.

"You both look fantastic by the way. A perfect representation of what the White Court should be."

A subtle dig at Liam and Juliette whom Ava had yet to formally met, nor did she want to. But Cameron and Haleigh didn't come to speak to her about fashion. Unfortunately it was a far less enjoyable topic.

Cameron: "I hope we are not intruding, but we'd like to discuss a few things before the weekend goes any further. It's about our Bishop...and your Princess. And their filthy mouths."

Ava rolled her eyes as she sighed.

"I'm fully aware of their "prank". And i'm at the end of my rope with that girl [Cass]. I have Ben and Amanda keeping her in check this weekend, but once the European's leave i'm going to run her into the ground until she submits like the little bitch she is."

Finishing her champagne.

"And if she doesn't? I believe that falls under the category of disloyalty to the crown."

Ava's smile became wicked at the thought of getting to execute Cass in a public setting under said rules. Gia however was a different story. She was a legacy member due to her father, and appointed Bishop mainly because of her ties with the mafia. However it was no secret she hated the uprising, but submitted to it for survival.

"And what of Gia? She seems to be on a slippery slope these days as well. And paired with Cass? They're both more trouble than they're worth."

Alek and Archer were shooting the shit, as the Americans would say. For the first time since the weekend had started, he had been able to relax. These were the times he missed Evelyn Pierce. She was always able to massage Archer's lack of decorum and build him up the others. He had an edge and she softened it, but her death had allowed him to take control of The Black Court with Brienne by his side, so he limited his nostalgia. The two comiserated over their counterparts.

"Though who am I to talk. My Queen makes Hitler look like just a guy who wanted to paint pretty pictures."

Alek smiled.

Alek: "But when she looks like that."

"Do I smell a wife swap in the works? I have to say, I would not protest too much."

[Archer laughed]

"Please tell me that you have something fun going on this place...and maybe a little something fun for me to enjoy?"

Alek feigned shocked and dissappointment.

Alek: "Have I ever let you down?"

Archer smirked.

"There was that time in Poland..with the gymnast twins."

Alek: "They didn't do away with all the dungeons when they made this place. I have an assortment of goods ready and waiting for your entertainment.

Archer gave a cheers to that.

"I was hoping to escape to Arklay.."

[imitating an American accent]

"Drink some [i[brewskies[/i]..."

His voice returned to normal.

"Shoot at shit with blood hounds at our side."

Brienne took over the scene as she often did.

Brienne: "Well I'm unimpressed, Archer. Not only did the Red Rook shout at me like some commoner from across the room, but the Red Bishop couldn't keep his eyes off the White Knight long enough to pretend to enjoy my company."

Archer shook his head and laughed before ribbing Alek in the stomach with his elbow.

"I expect you to execute them all, Alek. PUBLICALLY."

Alek: "Hello, Brienne. Don't you look beautiful this evening."

Some would think The Black Queen was in rare form this evening, but those who did, obviously didn't know her very well. She barrelled over others with ease, as did Archer, which is what made them a power couple on the court. They didn't mince words, and they gave absolutely zero fucks as to what others thought about them.

Brienne: "Is this how you allow your court to treat royalty? Or do I need to deal with the royalty directly?"

"Good question, Alek!"

Alek: "Why would you deal with anyone else?"

And so the dance began.

"Ah...so we ARE swapping..Right on."

Archer's eyes went towards The Red Queen who seemed enchanted by Liam. He rolled his eyes. Liam was a ponce and a first rate slimebag, and Archer was king of the slimebags, so he knew what he was talking about. But he wasn't worried. Ashley had an unquenchable thirst, and thankfully Archer was a tall drink of water, if he did say so himself. She liked the rough ones, but perhaps she might like a change of pace for the evening?

He watched as both Brienne and Alek carried on as if he didn't exist. This was his cue. Both were friends of his and it would benefit the Black Court if Brienne could work her magick on Alek. He had felt out the waters with Ava, and while he would still attempt to cultivate that relationship, for black court loyalty purposes, The Red Court seemed more up his alley in terms of how they operated. Lines were beginning to be drawn this evening, quicker than he anticipated and it was clear that if Archer wanted his cut, he was going to have to grab the serving knife and SLICE.

Alek and Brienne began to walk away leaving Archer in amused disbelief.

Alek: "How about a tour of the mansion? Archer, you don't mind if I borrow your Queen for awhile, do you?"

"That's up to my Queen, Al. But something tells me..she'd like that very much!"

Archer gave them both a wink.

"Enjoy yourselves. I'm back to hunting."

And with that, Archer moved through the floor, to get a closer listen at the things developing at the EWC table.

Haleigh told her knight that if anyone disrespected her tonight, it would warrant their death, because she didn't mind going to war. Cameron joked that she was talking dirty to him with that, and Haleigh gave him a salacious wink. Then Heidi expressed her gratitude, a little too coy for Haleigh. And of course Cameron chimed in, to which Haleigh warned them both not to make her too jealous. Her husband kiss her cheek, and took her hand, cooing in her ear, and then Zach took the opportunity to compliment her. That was more like it. They headed over to mingle with the European White King and Queen, which went well despite the surprising and uncouth arrival of Cameron's sister. It had all the makings of a nightmare, but then Zach rose to the occasion. She breathed a sigh of relief, and suggested to Cameron mentally that they should seek out the Fairy Queen.

Cameron: It appears The Red Queen has found herself infatuated with Cassandra.

Do you think she is conspiring with the foreigners?

Cameron: And we have YET to resolve the issue between between our Bishop and The Black Princess.

We shouldn't procrastinate on this, Stud. IF the Black Sheep is plotting against us, we need to strike quickly.

Cameron: Let's get our affairs in order..and see where Ava's head is at.

It was an extreme strategic advantage for them to be able to conversate privately, in this place where literally every nook and cranny was being monitored. After parting the company of their White Knight, Haleigh and Cameron sought out their own partner, the Black Queen, Ava.

Cameron: Ava..needing a moment for yourself so soon? How..unlike you. Unless... You are about to make sweet passionate LOVE to somebody!

"Somebody made of steel," Haleigh smirked, "but who could blame her?"

Ava: I'm waiting to speak with my Rook, asshole.

"Just to speak? Ugh, I don't know why you two kids deny yourselves."

She commented, taking pleasure in the way Cameron's hand slid comfortably into hers.

Cameron: I hope we are not intruding, but we'd like to discuss a few things before the weekend goes any further. It's about our Bishop...and your Princess. And their filthy mouths.

"And how we plan to shut them permanently."

She added darkly.

Ava: I'm fully aware of their "prank". And i'm at the end of my rope with that girl [Cass]. I have Ben and Amanda keeping her in check this weekend, but once the European's leave i'm going to run her into the ground until she submits like the little bitch she is. And if she doesn't? I believe that falls under the category of disloyalty to the crown.

"Excellent. You can count on us to back your play. Don't you worry about Kelly, Cameron can handle her, and she knows it."

Ava: And what of Gia? She seems to be on a slippery slope these days as well. And paired with Cass? They're both more trouble than they're worth.

Haleigh grimaced, nodding her head, as her free hand closed into a fist.

"I'm inclined to agree. Oracle mentioned some evidence of Gia's treachery, but it was lost due to... technical difficulties. But rest assured we are watching our mafia princess quite closely. I had Zach punish her before the foreigners arrived, and we'll see if THAT did any good. She's hunkered down in a booth out there, trying to blend in to the scenery. I wanted her to secure ties with Archer Fairchild, but Zach indicated she was too intimidated by the proposal."

Haleigh scoffed bitterly.

"I thought I could count on her, that's why I kept her as Bishop when we overtook the leadership positions of the club. Clearly I was mistaken, and you know how I hate being wrong."

Cobra was enjoying a quiet moment, her mind mentally taking notes, of both personal and professional nature. These grand scenes were right out of the books she had read as a girl, and though she had been a part of these stories for years, she never tired of them. She was one of the few people in this world living out actual fantasy. So many readers dreamed of entering worlds like this, and here she was actually doing it. It invigorated her. Now that the pieces seemed to be moving where they would, Amanda had something else on her mind as she looked out at the crowd, her eyes focusing on The Red Knight.

Savage and Cobra operated very much in the same way, though it appeared that The Red Knight's motives were not simply for the protection of the red court this evening. She had watched them enter this evening. She had heard their conversation, and now..to see AJ watching Ashley, as if everyone else around her was prey, it confirmed what she had initially suspected. The Red Queen had staked her claim in him, which complicated things for Amanda. Ashley was not unlike Helena in the sense that her requirement of absolute loyalty was apparent in each of her court members movements, she just went about it in a different way. The Red Queen gave her body freely, but when she gave her heart..things had a tendency to get ugly. This was all of course, just Amanda's writer mind attempting to fill in any gaps of information she had, something she often did. Sometimes, she was way off base, but sometimes she alarmed herself with her natural insight.

Nobody really knew what transpired between Alek and Ashley, which spoke to their strength. Together, they had been a force of nature. Never had Amanda seen a pair more passionate and fiercely loyal to one another. They would kill for one another. And had. She was never sure if that force, that kinetic energy was a testament to Alek's power..or Ashley's. But seeing AJ now, looking the way he did at her, Amanda began to realize that it belonged to Ashley.

"But that doesn't mean the snake can't play with the wolf..."

It may have been a stupid move, but Amanda was a risk taker, like all writers were. They craved experience, and this was a unique opportunity. She walked over towards AJ, who barely seemed to notice her, which was crazy, because let's face it..Amanda looked so good tonight it was damn near sinful, if she did say so herself. She grabbed a glass of rose wine from a passing tray table.

"If you keep making that face, Savage, it's going to get stuck that way."

She approached him, her curves mimicking her namesake as she too stalked forward.

"The suit is nice..very Arthur John..though I have to say I much prefer the oil stained white cotton tees."

He barely acknowledged her.

"Oh come on, AJ. Humor me for a few moments, will you? They aren't going to hurt her...unless she wants them to."

She took a sip of her wine. Ashley had REALLY done a number with him, it seemed. She would have to be delicate.

"Though you'd probably be better suited to do the hurting. I mean, who can resist a man with fangs?"

Cobra opened her mouth delicately, her own fangs appeared, pressing down a bit against her plump dark red stained lips for a moment.

Heidi was looking forward to looking down on Juliette and saying hello to Liam, but they were all interrupted by Cameron's sister. She was as bad as he'd warned, but luckily Zach volunteered and saved them all from having to deal with her. Heidi was wary, not just because of what Cameron had said, but also because she was suspicious of Erika and her implicative tiara. Heidi distrusted the notion of Erika trying to become Princess. In her experience, White Princesses were a treacherous breed. Hopefully Zach would satisfy her enough to tame her. It was in her best interest to simmer down.

Daniel: Do you have a few moments for an old friend? If it is alright with the King and Queen of course.

He asked, taking her hand. Heidi gave his hand a squeeze, offering him an amicable smile.

Cameron: The Queen and I have certain matters to take care of. Please, Heidi. Go. Enjoy yourself. Make them BEG for you to return to London. But do not stray too far...

"Yes, My King..."

She replied, not bothering to hide her appreciation of the favor he was showing her. Daniel suggested they get some fresh air in the conservatory, so Heidi led him to the express elevator near the back exit. Jack rushed up as the elevator doors began to close. Heidi hit the button to pause them.

"Daniel's an old friend, Jack. I'll be back shortly."

When they reached the koi pond and sat at the nearby bench, the fish began swarming nearby and jumping out of the water for her attention.

Daniel: I've missed you, Heidi...

"No one left to toss bon mots with, I take it. You must be miserable there. I don't regret leaving, but I HAVE missed you as well."

Daniel: You do seem..a lot happier here. Maybe I should jump ship.

She locked eyes with him excitedly, trying to determine how serious he was.

"The Red Court needs a Rook...."

Daniel: Are you...happier here?

She didn't have to consider it, she knew the answer as soon as he'd asked the question.

"Much happier. There is a lot of strength and power here, Daniel. More than that, the bonds are strong between most of us. There is a pariah or two, but they do it to themselves. You would be a welcome addition, if you secured a position. I could talk to Jack, see if he thinks the Red Queen would interview you for the open slot."

Hellfire - Conservatory

Heidi: "No one left to toss bon mots with, I take it."

Daniel groaned.

"It is an art form that died with the former queens. And you're departure."

Heidi: "You must be miserable there. I don't regret leaving, but I HAVE missed you as well."

She meant it.

"Good to know."

He mentioned the fact that he might be considering moving over to the American Court and he was pleased to sense Heidi's joy at the notion, it meant the foundation he was prepared to lay could grow.

Heidi: "The Red Court needs a Rook..."

Daniel laughed and shook his head.

"I'm not sure I have enough chest hair for The new Red Queen, but variety is the spice of life."

He inquired further.

Heidi: "Much happier. There is a lot of strength and power here, Daniel. More than that, the bonds are strong between most of us. There is a pariah or two, but they do it to themselves. You would be a welcome addition, if you secured a position. I could talk to Jack, see if he thinks the Red Queen would interview you for the open slot."

Daniel made a waving away gesture with his hands.

"I'm still figuring things out. I've always worn red, but considering how good I look in every color, I've decided to feel each of the courts out, see where the best fit is. Though it would feel shameful to don another color in these halls..."

"Helena."

He was not sure how involved Ashley and Alek had been with regards to Helena's death. Before he agreed to anything, he was going to get to know The Red Queen on his own terms. Daniel did not want to rush his decision and find himself courtless, or even worse, an outcast.

"But that's not why I called you out here.."

Daniel rose from the bench. The night sky shining down on them...

"I came to apologize. For not fighting to keep you. With the way things were...I simply couldn't. And then the rebellion came and I watched as those not worthy of crowns tooks them off dead bodies and placed them on their heads...And although the loss of Rebecca was...painful, I could not..and will not..."

[gripping his fists]

"Forgive Liam."

"To know how freely and openly he was willing to betray the other courts as well as his own? He stood next to his own Queen and plotted her death. All of their deaths, so that he could remain the fat cat on top..."

He turned around to face Heidi once more.

"I understand the ebbs and flows of power in these places, Heidi. But I take my committments very seriously. I have served two Queens and have never waivered. Even when I had to operate around them, I did so with my court in mind. Liam was willing to burn his own to better himself..and THAT precedent is not something I intend to stand for."

From within his jacket pocket, he pulled out a black leather Gucci driving glove and slipped it over his hand.

"You remember our fallen white queen's affinity for birds?"

Camille Rowe had a love of birds, even keeping an atrium on the London estate, full of beautiful and rare, all white birds. She may have been a medicated shell of a former prima ballerina, but to see her tend to these creatures so delicately, with such joy, it often reminded him of the way Camille regarded Heidi.

"When the dust settled on the rebellion, Liam gutted the atrium. Set them free...a bit ironic since he refused to set his own Queen free..The birds scattered and flew, as birds do, but there was one who remained..."

Daniel held out his gloved hand in silence for a few moments, as from the rafters of the conservatory, a beautiful and brilliant white hawk began to fly down from the rafters, landing on Daniel's hand in a regal and familiar stature, with a beautiful diamond collar around it's neck.

"I don't know why, but I kept it. And when I heard we were coming here..I knew I had my answer. It belonged to you."

The hawk flew from Daniel's hand, landing right next to Heidi on the bench.

"Consider it a peace offering. A memento on the days that were. You were the only one loyal to your Queen in London, that deserves to be recognized. They might not have appreciated you, Heidi. But I did..."

He moved closer to Heidi, embracing her in somewhat of a stiff british hug as he kissed her forehead.

"It is good to know that I have friends here. We cannot let this much time pass, again.."

Daniel looked at the bird and smiled, before his eyes met Heidi's once more.

"Now, I've got a party to get back to. Take a few moments, pet him, give him a bit of love. You might be surprised at how well a hawk is able to reciprocate."

"I will see you soon."

"White Knight."

He said, a bit impressed at her new title. And then he left, making his way back down to the Aquarius Lounge, and back into the madness.

Hellfire Club – The Aquarius Lounge

:: Well the American Red Knight was as charming as all get out. Bretta had wondered why she had even bothered to come when all of a sudden, she knew. She was the only person in that room who actually cared about the Black Princess. No else did. At least, nobody that she could see was rushing over to help. That left HER. She had stared down the Red Knight…and clearly HE wasn’t backing down either. That’s when Bretta noticed that Cass was getting all worked up beside her, getting ready to go to battle. ::

Oh no. This I can’t allow.

:: Bretta gently tugged on Cass’ arm, leading her away. ::

“Come along, Cass, and we’ll find you a new dress.”

:: She managed to pull Cass away and headed for a private room up ahead. Thankfully, it was empty. She looked at a waiting aide. ::

“Please, we would like NO disturbances whatsoever. Thank you.”

:: She gently pushed the Black Princess through the door and locked it behind both of them. Switching on the light, Bretta sighed. ::

Peace and quiet at last.

:: She went over to the phone that was in the corner. She picked it up. ::

“Hello? Yes, this is Bretta O’Malley, the European Hellfire Red Queen? I was wondering if anybody would be so kind as to go up to the Black Princess’ suite and pick out a formal gown for her and bring it down to the Aquarius Lounge? Thank you so much.”

:: She put the phone back onto its cradle and turned to look at Cass, who by now had taken a seat on one of the couches up against the wall. Bretta sat down beside her. She was pretty proud of how Cass wanted to stand up to the Red Knight. It was very clear that she had mostly been on her own because nobody ever thought to show her her value. Nobody ever thought to show that she was worth it. Nobody ever thought to stand up for her and protect her. Now that Cass knows what that’s like, she wanted to do it too. She tucked a lock of hair behind Cass’ ear. The poor girl seemed sad about something. ::

“Don’t worry, sweetie. None of this is your fault.”

Cass: *sadly; softly*: “My Court will be disappointed in me.”

:: Bretta already wasn’t impressed with the American Black Court. The way the Black Bishop had boorishly dumped Cass at her feet had turned the faerie completely off of the rest of them. Cass looked up, her eyes sad, though a bit wild and chaotic. ::

Cass: *sadly*: “I’m sorry that you are stuck with me.”

These bloody Americans…

:: Just then, a knock sounded. Bretta gave her a little squeeze before she got up from her place and headed for the door. She unlocked the door and opened it a crack. An aide handed her a dress bag. ::

Aide: “The Princess’ dress, Your Majesty.”

“Thank you so much.”

:: Bretta closed the door again and locked it. She opened the dress bag and lifted out a beautiful black gown. Perfect. She turned to Cass. ::

*warmly*: “Come along, Princess. Let’s get you redressed.”

:: Bretta had Cass stand up and unzipped the back of it. ::

Cass: *terror*: “Please be careful with it. It’s very special to me. Somebody gave me it as a gift.”

*softly*: “Sssh, now. I’ll be very careful with it. I promise.”

:: True to her word, Bretta was extremely careful with it. She didn’t speak as she put away Cass’ dress in the bag that had accompanied the new gown. Cass had said that her Court would be so disappointed in her. Apparently her suspicions were correct: Cassandra’s own Court members did not have her back. She was intrigued. She would definitely get to the bottom of this. Once she had zipped it up, she unlocked the door again and opened it, passing along the dress bag to the waiting aide. ::

“See that this gets back to the Black Princess’ suite safely. It’s important to her.”

:: Once again she closed the door, and once again, she locked it. She picked up the gown, unzipped it, and held it out for Cass who was standing in her undergarments just out of the way of the door. ::

“Ready when you are.”

:: Cass gently stepped into the gown, steadying her hand on Bretta’s shoulder as she did so. Bretta smiled. It fit her like a glove, curves in all the right places. She had Cass turn around while she zipped the Black Princess back up and then turned her back around so that Cass was facing her. ::

“You look absolutely smashing.”

:: Bretta adjusted Cass’ hair and fluffed her dress before leading her to take a seat on the loveseat. Bretta took a seat adjacent from her on a comfortable chair, with a table in the corner between them. ::

“Going back to what you said earlier, Cass, I am not ‘stuck’ with you. Was your Black Bishop a bit boorish when he dumped you at my feet? Yes, yes he was. But Cass…I enjoy your company. You are a lovely girl. I’m just trying to let you get your bearings before my…companions attempt to eat you alive.”

:: Bretta smiled as she reached out and took Cass’ hand in hers. ::

“Now then. Tell me about your Black Court. You said that they would be disappointed in you. Why?"

Cameron had made a joke about Ava making sweet love to someone to which Haleigh chimed in playfully as well.

Haleigh: "Somebody made of steel," Haleigh smirked, "but who could blame her?"

[deadpan] "Cute, Hales."

Cameron kissed up her arm and Ava pushed him away with a chuckle.

"I'm waiting to speak with my Rook, asshole."

Haleigh: "Just to speak? Ugh, I don't know why you two kids deny yourselves."

Ava rolled her eyes, but on the inside she was dying just a little. It was so much more complicated than just fucking John and being done with it. They had a life long friendship that built into a work relationship that built into love. But he wouldn't cross the line, and she couldn't force him to. She was practically standing naked in front of him earlier, handing him the reigns, telling him to take her and not look back, and he didn't. He wouldn't. And it hurt. She envied the way Cameron and Haleigh's relationship was - the subtleness of their hand holding showing their unity. They worked together flawlessly and held control of their court together. Ava could have that with John, but he refused.

"You know I love a little foreplay."

Ava smirked, playing the game without missing a beat. Fortunately Cameron shifted the conversation away from John, but unfortunately it was to Cass. Ava made her point VERY clear that if Cassandra continued down the path she was on, when the European's left, Ava WOULD eliminate her.

Haleigh: "Excellent. You can count on us to back your play. Don't you worry about Kelly, Cameron can handle her, and she knows it."

"Thank you, I appreciate your support. I refuse to let my court become a mockery because Kelly is a spiteful bitch."

Ava asked about Gia, considering she was walking a fine line as well.

Haleigh: "I'm inclined to agree. Oracle mentioned some evidence of Gia's treachery, but it was lost due to... technical difficulties."

"Technical i'm sure..."

Ava smirked, knowing exactly what that meant.

Haleigh: "But rest assured we are watching our mafia princess quite closely. I had Zach punish her before the foreigners arrived, and we'll see if THAT did any good. She's hunkered down in a booth out there, trying to blend in to the scenery. I wanted her to secure ties with Archer Fairchild, but Zach indicated she was too intimidated by the proposal."

Ava rolled her eyes as Haleigh scoffed. Ava didn't give much thought to Gia on a daily basis, but it was very clear the girl was the weakest link on the White Court.

"Archer would have devoured her. It might have been a blessing in disguise that she couldn't handle it."

Haleigh: "I thought I could count on her, that's why I kept her as Bishop when we overtook the leadership positions of the club. Clearly I was mistaken, and you know how I hate being wrong."

"About as much as I hate being strong armed."

Ava added in reference to having to keep Cassandra as Princess on her court because of Kelly King.

"We just need to get through this weekend. Then we can deal with BOTH of them appropriately."

Ava's eyes shifted past Haleigh and Cameron to see Ben leave John's side. Lifting her hand elegantly to garner his attention, Ava indicated that she wanted him to come over. She returned her gaze back to the King and Queen as John came to her side, speaking freely with him there in regards to Gia so he knew exactly what the situation was.

"I'll have my court keep an eye on Gia as well and report anything that might be of importance. Everyone needs this weekend to go smoothly, and I promise you have my support on whatever transpires with your Bishop."

:: Cass sat down on one of the couches while Bretta made a phone call to get her a new dress. But she didn’t want a new dress; she wanted this one. If she could, she’d be bawling right now, but the new mortification will not be coming out. Instead, it, too, would consume her and would only serve to drive her crazier than ever. ::

I don’t know what to do anymore. Nothing I do measures up.

:: That’s when Bretta sat down next to her and tucked a lock of hair behind her ear. ::

Bretta: “Don’t worry, sweetie. None of this is your fault.”

Yes it is. It’s always my fault.

:: She said her next sentence without thinking. ::

*sadly; softly*: “My Court will be so disappointed in me.”

:: She looked up at Bretta, her ice-blue eyes wild and chaotic as usual, but with a touch of sadness. ::

*sadly*: “I’m sorry you’re stuck with me.”

:: A knock sounded, Bretta went up and got the door. Her new dress had arrived. Cass wished that she could shed some tears, but THAT wasn’t going to happen. Bretta shut the door once again. ::

Bretta: *warmly*: “Come along, Princess. Let’s get you redressed.”

:: Cass reluctantly stood up, kicked off her heels, and turned around. Bretta started to unzip her when a terrifying thought struck her. ::

*terror*: “Please be very careful with it. It’s special to me. Somebody gave me it as a gift.”

Bretta: *softly*: “Sssh, now. I’ll be very careful with it. I promise.”

:: Cass was pleased to see that Bretta was, in fact, careful with it and Cass even smiled a bit as she watched Bretta gently tuck her dress back into the bag in a reverential manner. She carried it gently, like the treasure that it was, and handed it off to the waiting aide. Cass bit her lip, as she stood off to the side in her undergarments. ::

Bretta: “See that it gets back to the Princess’ suite safely. It’s important to her.”

:: Then Bretta shut the door again and picked up the gown. She unzipped it and held it out to Cass. ::

Bretta: “Ready when you are.”

:: Cass stepped into it, slowly, gingerly. She placed her hand on Bretta’s shoulder to steady herself. She could see the admiration in Bretta’s eyes and hoped that this time the gown would be okay; that she would be able to redeem herself somehow. It was important to her. ::

Bretta: “You look absolutely smashing.”

Really? Will Ava be pleased? What about my Ben? Will The Imposter be happy too?

:: But she knew that she could not allow these thoughts to come out her mouth. She looked at Bretta as the Red Queen adjusted her hair and watched as she fluffed out her gown. Cass allowed herself to be led over to the corner where two loveseats flanked the corner table. ::

Bretta: “Going back to what you said earlier, Cass, I am not ‘stuck’ with you. Was your Black Bishop a bit boorish when he dumped you at my feet? Yes, yes he was. But Cass…I enjoy your company. You are a lovely girl. I’m just trying to let you get your bearings before my…companions attempt to eat you alive.”

:: Relief flooded through her as Cass realized that Bretta truly did enjoy her company. Bretta took her hand in hers. ::

Bretta: “Now then. Tell me about your Black Court. You said that they would be disappointed in you. Why?”

:: Cass looked down and instantly felt nervous. She never should have said it out loud. Why did she say it out loud? She looked back up into Bretta’s warm and friendly face. Perhaps she could trust the Red Queen? ::

“I embarrassed them by wearing the wrong dress. I can’t do anything right. I’m bad at being a Princess.”

:: If she could still cry, tears would have been welling up then. ::

“I fail at everything. I don’t have a working relationship with my Queen, I don’t have any allies on the Court, though…Benjamin says that he is one.”

:: She couldn’t believe it. ‘The Imposter’ almost slipped out of her mouth! ::

“He only escorted me tonight because I asked him to, and…he probably did it to make me happy but I wasn’t happy, because, because I knew that he wasn’t happy.”

:: She looked at Bretta, her wild and chaotic eyes pleading. ::

“It’s not his fault, though. I shouldn’t have asked him. I’m radioactive, you see.”

:: Cass looked down at her lap. ::

*quietly*: “People shouldn’t be around me.”

Kelly made certain of that.

The Red King was smooth, bringing all the attention to him and making it seem as if his court disrespecting her was at his orders. Brienne had to give it to the man, he was cunning and creative. She wondered if he was as good in bed as he was playing King. She questioned his reputation with a smirk, her hands smoothing down his jacket only to slide along his belt.

Alek: "Well, we can't have that, now can we? After all, it is my duty to make sure you have a good time."

"You're failing miserably so far."

She countered with a sly smile, her eyes looking behind Alek now to the American Red Queen. She questioned him about what his Queen would think of such actions. They were, afterall, 'a strongly unified court'...or so they tried to display. Alek leaned closer to her, his woodsy musk overwhelming her senses as he whispered into her ear.

Alek: "That I'm entertaining our guests to the extent they deserve."

A devilish smirk crept along Brienne's lips as Alek pulled away from her.

Alek: "How about a tour of the mansion? Archer, you don't mind if I borrow your Queen for a while, do you?"

Archer was still there? How sad for him.

Archer: "That's up to my Queen, Al. But something tells me..she'd like that very much!"

Brienne didn't bother agreeing to the tour. She simply linked arms with Alek, a silent yes to his invitation. Looking over at her shoulder, Brienne smirked at Archer and gave him a wink. She would work on the Red King, he needed to work on everyone else.

"Behave, Archie."

Archer: "Enjoy yourselves. I'm back to hunting."

Turning her attention back to Alek, the two of them headed out of the Aquarius Lounge and started up the long descent back to the main mansion. They were awaiting the elevator when Brienne turned to Alek, her fingers brushing the color of his shirt back a bit to reveal his scar.

"Tell me, Alek...."

She took her hand back, her fingers going to her own collar bone now. She began to trace gently along her own chest mimicking the path of Alek's scar. He would feel everything she was doing to herself as if she were touching him. Her eyes were trained on his, lips parted as she allowed the sensation to linger.

"Did it hurt?"

The thought of him screaming in pain was such a turn on.

Zach: "Oh it'd be my pleasure..."

< Erika's cobalt blue eyes flickered with desire as she pursed her lips. >

"Good boy..."

< She had made the entrance she wanted to, embarrassing her brother, insulting her sister-in-law and making them look foolish in the eyes of the EWC. So far so good, and now she had her hand wrapped around a particularly firm and bulbous bicep. Things could have been worse. She let Zach lead her across the floor. The sister of the white king, and the daughter of the former Black Queen look impressed with herself as she moved, her dress delicately swaying against her flawless legs as she walked. Eyes were on her, and there was nothing Erika loved more than an audience. >

"Sorry ladies...the rook is mine. For now."

< The two made their way over to a less crowded, more private bar area that had been draped with white silk curtains, allowing guests the privacy they needed once the evening took the turn it usually did at these functions. Sitting down on the white leather couch, Erika crossed her silken legs, a tucked a few strands of hair behind her ears, leaning in to expose her cleavage. >

Zach: "My Gods, you look radiant, Erika."

"Thank you, Zachary..I do, don't I?"

Zach: "Please say you'll be in town for more than just one night."

< Erika leaned in further, placing her finger on Zach's chin, playing with his scruff as a waiter brought them drinks, seeming to know what they wanted before they even had to order. Erika grabbed her flute of hemlock and took a luxurious sip, before leaning back. >

"I have a feeling you're going to be seeing a lot more of me around the mansion in the days to come..."

< Smirking. >

"And I meant that last bit of implied innuendo. You..are looking fucking right these days. I'm sure you're keeping that..."

< Her eyes went down towards the bulge in his pants before returning to his eyes with a smile. >

"Friend down there quite busy..."

< Zach was always willing to play grenade for The White Court, and Erika liked to take full advantage of his services. Plus, they had a magentic connection to one another, and if she was going to stick around, it would be good to have a hot little play thing that could manipulate people's emotions at her side. >

"Tell me...how's life in white treating you? Are my brother and... sister treating you well?"

As Cameron left, she heard him in her head:

[to Ashley] "Save a few moments this evening for your own White King, would you?"

No promises.

The White King wasn't offended at all by her confession that she thought he'd look different. But she said she thought if anyone could pull off nerd-chic, it was Liam. Juliette seemed to appreciate this comment, leaning in like they were old girlfriends dishing on their significant others.

Juliette said:
Dzere are pho-tographs from his yout vitch proove 'e deed een fact, pull dzat look off, at Ohx-ford Unee-vair-sitee.

"Now THAT would be worth seeing.'

Ashley chuckled. Liam smiled self-deprecatingly, which surprised Ashley - most of the Kings she'd encountered would not stand for any comment that might make them look imperfect.

Liam said:
"Back before I could grow facial hair, you mean. That was the old me. Immortality has its way of changing its victims, but I guess here, I'm preaching to the choir."

Ashley agreed with he and Juliette, tilting her head to muse about his statement.

"I couldn't really say what I was like when I was human. It was so long ago."

She smiled at the both of them, and winked at Juliette.

"But I am glad that you learned to grow facial hair."

Liam expressed that he wouldn't want to be a disappointment, so she told him a bit salaciously that he'd better not disappoint her then. Juliette laughed at that, an utterly feminine sound that was completely intoxicating.

Julie: Vahl-kyr-ee, My Keeng ees in no vay deesa-point-ing, I can assure you of dzat.

Liam raised his eyebrows, and Ashley leaned forward to put her hand on his arm, meeting his eyes.

"Well if that isn't a testimonial I don't know what is."

Liam raised his eyebrows suggestively. Ashley leaned forward and reached for his arm. She steered the conversation to Jack's research, offering a tour of the Aqua Ring to the King and Queen, and talking up the Red Court as being committed to research and the application of what they'd learned.

Liam said:
"We are known for our innovation. Particularly in the nuclear department."

"So I've heard. I'm sure Dr. Chondrich would be happy to discuss some of his ideas on how you might expand the technology into other areas."

Liam said:
"Perhaps you would like a tour of my facilities some time, Your Maj."

Juliette said:
Ve vould be trilled to 'ave you...

Ashley smiled genuinely. She found herself enchanted by these two, so unlike anyone that she was used to.

"Please, call me Ashley. I would be honored to make a visit. I may not be a scientist but what can be done in these modern times is very exciting to me. The endless possibilities."

Her finger began to stroke Liam's forearm.

"And I would love a chance to see your...facility. I heard it's very large indeed."

She paused to let the suggestion sink in, then looked to Juliette.

"I must admit, I'm a great admirer of yours, Juliette. What you and your King have built is very impressive indeed, as is your staying power. Tell me, do the two of you do everything together?"

Gia finished off her cheese and crackers and sighed. She didn’t want to move for fear of catching her King or Queen’s attention, but she knew that she had to rub elbows with the guests. Unfortunately, though, she did not want to talk to any of them. The only person she wanted to talk to just went into a private room with Bretta O’Malley, who looked HOT by the way. She was really hoping that she could’ve talked to Cass about Zachary but Cass seemed to have the European Red Queen’s attention for now.

Gia gazed around the area, looking for someone to talk to. Was that Daniel Reed, in a snazzy suit? She could definitely talk to him and – bonus points! – she didn’t even have to worry about him hitting on her.

“Well, hello there!”

Gia said, as she came up beside him, wrapping her arm around his arm.

“That’s a great suit that you have on. I’ve only ever seen red suits in circuses and The Music Man.”

She gazed appreciatively at him, or rather, his clothes.

“The clothes certainly do make the man.”

He was still feeling the high of his interaction with Heidi. His need to turn coat seemed to be reinforced here in a way he had not been anticipating, but was ready for. Perhaps that was why Heidi left. In London, it seemed like so much work for the smallest bit of approval. Here, they seemed more open to getting to know one another. He head a voice call out to him.

Gia: "Well, hello there!"

"Oh bollocks."

The White Bishop arrived and promptly wrapped her arm around his arm. Although being gay had many benefits, one of the downsides was that straight white women often thought them to be like sassy little pets, ready to compliment them and tell them how naughty they were at any given moment. It was exhausting, but it was a role that Daniel knew well. And really, Gia was a bit of a trouble maker, and Daniel liked that. Plus, he had heard many stories around The White Bishop lately, and if he was going to be a stereotype for the next few minutes, he was at least going to try and get a bit of juicy gossip.

"Gia Nefaria! As I live and breathe!"

Gia: "That's a great suit you have on. I've only ever seen red suits in circuses and The Music Man."

"I don't care for musicals, but thank you none the less. And look around, my pet. There's plenty of delicious red suits here this evening, ripe for the picking."

Gia: "The clothes certainly do make the man."

Daniel shrugged.

"Eh, I've made more than one man without any clothes on at all. Semantics."

He cupped his glass, taking a sip.

"So..Countess. I hear we are stirring up trouble lately. Good girl. Anything I should know? You know boys like me like to get the scoop."

Ben was complaining about having to babysit Cassandra, and John pointed out that Ben was the one who used to date her.

"She didn't always used to be like that."

John gave him a look which said he didn't entirely believe that. Ben changed the subject then, complimenting him on how he looked. He normally wore more casual clothes when he was working for Ava, so it was a different look for him. Of course, the only person who noticed was Ben, and as much as he liked the guy he wasn't someone he was trying to impress.

Ben said:
"I'd say you have your pick of the litter, John. Maybe you just don't have the attention of the ones you want."

"I'm sure they're more interested in kings."

Then he gave Ben a rundown of how the Court was faring so far, and told him that the rest of them had things covered: Ben just needed to keep Cassandra in line.

Ben said:
"Well, for once..Cassandra seems to be doing more good than harm. The Red Queen has taken a liking to her, which is surprising, but works in our favor. I'll be at the ready if I hear shouting or the firing off of energy signatures."

"Excellent. If she could pull that off, the Black Queen would be pleased."

Ben went off to "have fun", and wished as much for John as well.

"Hey Ben - I will suggest that raise to the Queen."

And with a slight waive, he moved towards the side room where Ava had gone. As he approached, however, he saw that the White King and Queen were with her, so he paused. His eyes were on her, however, and soon she noticed him and waved for him to come over. He nodded to her, but didn't interrupt as he came to stand at her side, one step back.

Ava said:
"I'll have my court keep an eye on Gia as well and report anything that might be of importance. Everyone needs this weekend to go smoothly, and I promise you have my support on whatever transpires with your Bishop."

So Gia was officially under investigation? He had heard murmurs, of course, but hadn't thought things had come to that. He nodded to show he understood, and to affirm that the White Court had the Black's backing.

Amanda: If you keep making that face, Savage, it's going to get stuck that way. The suit is nice..very Arthur John..though I have to say I much prefer the oil stained white cotton tees.

"Yes, Arthur John, fancy name, fancy suits. But that was long ago."

He said, and then he remembered that his Queen had permitted him to shed the jacket and tie once they arrived, and he gratefully began to remove one and then the other, as his gaze checked on his Queen again. She could have seduced him even at this distance, if she'd just look his way.

Amanda: Oh come on, AJ. Humor me for a few moments, will you?

He vaguely remembered what it had been like to have strict manners, and felt a pang of guilt.

"Apologies, Amanda. I'm on duty, you know."

Amanda: They aren't going to hurt her...unless she wants them to. Though you'd probably be better suited to do the hurting. I mean, who can resist a man with fangs?

She asked him, and his gaze shifted onto her. She was showing that she had fangs of her own. His eyes traveled down her body, and back up again. He wondered if his Queen would want her, maybe to join them sometime. Like tonight. Or right now. Cobra was quite attractive, and captured his attention.

"Amanda...."

He growled knowingly.

"Which scene from your dirty novels would you like to reenact?"

She had distracted him, and there was suddenly something in the air. He breathed in her pheromones, and his instincts started to kick in.

"Fifty Shades of Blood?"

He asked her in a gravelly tone, taking a wild guess at the title, because he hadn't a clue really. He was much more comfortable now that he'd escaped his coat and the noose. He unbuttoned the top of his shirt, then removed his cuff links and dropped them in his pocket. He began to roll his sleeves, sloppily.

Ava: "I'm waiting to speak with my Rook, asshole."

He was about to comment, when his wife finished his thought. As usual.

Haleigh: "Just to speak? Ugh, I don't know why you two kids deny yourselves."

Cameron's powers allowed him to know why, but now was not the time to bring up something like that.

Ava: "You know I love a little foreplay."

"Who doesn't?"

He got more to the point.

"I hope we are not intruding, but we'd like to discuss a few things before the weekend goes any further. It's about our Bishop...and your Princess. And their filthy mouths."

Haleigh: "And how we plan to shut them permanently."

Ava: "I'm fully aware of their "prank". And I'm at the end of my rope with that girl. I have Ben and Amanda keeping her in check this weekend, but once the European's leave I'm going to run her into the ground until she submits like the little bitch she is. And if she doesn't? I believe that falls under the category of disloyalty to the crown."

Cameron nodded, glad they were on the same page.

Haleigh: "Excellent. You can count on us to back your play. Don't you worry about Kelly, Cameron can handle her, and she knows it."

Ava: "Thank you, I appreciate your support. I refuse to let my court become a mockery because Kelly is a spiteful bitch."

"Though the fact that she has not yet arrived on her broomstick is giving me pause."

He wondered where she was. This seemed like a perfect opportunity for her to peacock, remind everybody that they were living on a legacy she had helped create. She craved adoration and respect. Her absence was beginning to trouble him. And what of his sister?

Ava: "And what of Gia? She seems to be on a slippery slope these days as well. And paired with Cass? They're both more trouble than they're worth."

"Well...depending on what the pairing entails."

Cameron smirked.

Haleigh: "I'm inclined to agree. Oracle mentioned some evidence of Gia's treachery.."

As Haleigh spoke, Cameron's mind went to the sexy little nerd in the security rooms.

"Mm..I'd love to POP that one's overalls..."

Haleigh: "...but it was lost due to...technical difficulties..."

Ava: "Technical I'm sure..."

Cameron scoffed.

"Hey. Now i'm getting jealous."

Haleigh: "But rest assured we are watching our mafia princess quite closely. I had Zach punish her before the foreigners arrived, and we'll see if THAT did any good. She's hunkered down in a booth out there, trying to blend into the scenery. I wanted her to secure ties with Archer Fairchild, but Zach indicated she was too intimadted by the proposal."

Ava: "Archer would have devoured her. It might have been a blessing in disguise that she couldn't handle it."

Haleigh: "I thought I could count on her, that's why I kept her as Bishop when we overtook leadership positions of the club. Clearly I was mistaken, and you know how I hate being wrong."

Ava: "About as much as I hate being strong armed."

Listening to the woman go back and forth so quickly with one another definitely turned him on. These plays of power, the plotting, the execution..it was his favorite part about being king. Well..one of them.

Ava: "We just need to get through this weekend. Then we can deal with BOTH of them appropriately."

John arrived, taking his usual place just a small step behind her. He eyed the man up and down. John had the makings of a King, but he didn't want to seem to do anything about it. He thought of only Ava, and not himself. Perhaps Cameron could nudge him along this weekend...

Ava: "I'll have my court keep an eye on Gia as well and report anything that might be of importance. Everyone needs this weekend to go smoothly, and I promise you have my support on whatever transpires with your Bishop."

Cameron nodded.

"Thank you, Ava. But let us not forget. The courts have seen two rebellions in less than a decade's time. And we all remember the surge of excess we partook in when we took over the helm of the court. We have the upper hand here..and I am not above making a show of BOTH Gia and Cassandra this weekend if they step out of bounds again. The ice they are standing on will soon crack, and if that happens to be tonight, tomorrow..or the next day? Should it be required, they will PAY for their crimes in a public forum.."

[taking a sip of his drink]

"And it might be good for the Euros to know what we are truly capable of, should any of the alliances created this weekend be ones of ulterior motive. With that being said.."

He would normally not speak of this in front of John, a court member, but he continued. It would show John he had some of Cameron's favor.

"Since we've agreed about the impending demise of members of our court, we should be keeping our eyes open for candidates for the soon to be open positions.."

He finished his drink.

"We will be in touch. But for now, my Queen and I will leave you with your Rook."

Cameron eyed John up and down, pleased with his attire.

"Now this is a John I would like to see more of."

He nodded to Ava as Haleigh and Cameron made their exit, but instead of turning right, they turned left, walking down the hall and into a private lounge that was empty, save for the vibrating music from the outside lounge area. Cameron pressed his wife against the wall, kissing her lips, his hands moving up and down her body.

"It bares repeating..You look so fucking good tonight."

Cameron kissed her neck.

"And the way you were speaking just now..I have to have you."
