LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards will feature an indoor black carpet, a theme of the space-time continuum of music, and something from Lady Gaga that we've never seen before.

That's the word from MTV president Stephen Friedman and VMA executive producer Jesse Ignjatovic, who revealed the concept behind this year's show exclusively to TheWrap, as well as an exclusive look at the stage design.

Beyonce confirmed her pregnancy tonight. Nicki Minaj looked like a total fruitcake & Lady Gaga's performance was actually interesting to me.
 
I really DONE w/ MTV :rolleyes2: this channel is WACK AS HELL. I knew that for the last couple years but my curiosity got the better of me tonight. That wont happen again.

Chris Brown needs a good psychiatrist and Jersey Shore cast? <<FAMILY FUED BUZZER!>>
 
It DISGUSTS me that the entertainment industry still contracts Chris Brown for performances, appearances etc.

MTV is no longer the cutting edge channel it once was. Unfortunately.
 
yeah there used to be a time when a person would be BLACKBALLED from the industry for that kind of criminal behavior. Just ask Ike Turner...well i guess you cant now since he's dead but you get my point.

they tried to make the VMA's darker, more edgier this year & far as sets & imagery goes, they did a good job but the overall performances? BLAH.

Beyonce ws one of the worst imo.

Adele did a decent job.
 
Hence why I stopped watching years ago and waited to see the performances I cared about later.

I am curious @ the Chris Brown one btw...
 
This show sucked. I mean, I know the VMA's have been going down hill lately, but seriously...these performances were beyond ridiculous, and everything else was boring as hell..

Adele was fabulous, but she didn't really fit the VMA's. She was too classy for this shit lol. I thought Beyonce did good, and I thought the baby bump reveal was cute. Lady Gaga's actual performance was good simply because she's a fantastic singer. However her guy persona throughout the entire show was beyond annoying. And the opening monologue was sorta cringe worthy. As for Chris Brown, he lip synced through the whole thing. How is that a "VMA comeback"?? I've been over that boy since the Rihanna incident. :rolleyes:

Overall, shitty ass show. OH! And is anyone else getting sick of Nicki Minaj and Katey Perry trying to out dress each other and Lady Gaga with outrageous outfits? I mean, common. It freakin' stupid.

was she trying to make a point about gender identity or something? I still think she fancies herself some kind of cultural force instead of simply a nice singer. Even Madonna didnt start out the gate w/ that grandiose opinion of herself. i'd listen to Gaga before Ke$ha or Minaj anyday but she needs to remind ppl more about her actual TALENT instead of trying to redefine ppl's thinking.

Nicki Minaj looked like a damn Mad Maxx & Thunderdome inspired COCKATOO in one of her outfits :haha: just a pathetic, overwrought MESS. She & Katy Perry need to sit down somewhere! Rhianna aint much better w/ those over the top wigs she's wearing these days.

As for Gaga, I agree. I used to really really love her...back before she DIDN'T try so hard. I remember her first VMA performance in 2009 [I think it was], where she wore the meat dress. Now that to me was just her being her. She did crazy outfits and put on a good performance that night. But ever since "Born This Way" came out, she's been more about how to impress people with her out there ways than her actual music. To me, it seems like she's become way too full of herself. Now I don't doubt she loves her fans, but I think she needs to take a step back.

I heard on the radio this morning that Beyonce set a record for most tweets per second on twitter...something like 8000+k tweets per second about the whole baby thing.

pretty sad that a show that's supposed to recognized talent & outstanding achievement in music & videos was totally highjacked by THAT. Britney's tribute & Katy Perry winning the show's top prize were totally eclipsed by this.

i think people are hating just to hate. although i do agree that i think it sucks that Britney Spears' tribute was just a means to introduce Beyonce.

yeah i'm hating ;) but i've BEEN hating on her so that aint anything new.

I definitely think it was crazy that her pregnancy was the highlight of the VMA's & that other's "moments" were stolen b/c of it.
