"the biggest comic event in history?" unless they plan on launching a multimedia /tie in juggernaut that surpasses what they did w/ the Marvel vs DC crossover in '96, I doubt that.
This allegedly "Epic" event raises a few questions/& begs a few observations & some speculation from me.
1) W/ Storm joining the Avengers in '12, where will this place her in the conflict? Or even Wolverine? who magickally serves on BOTH teams simultaneously?
2) What about characters like Beast & Ms. Marvel, who have long standing, deep connections w/ either team? or X-23 who recently was attached to Avengers Academy?
3) Will we see more than a few mutants who struggled w/ never having full acceptance from the public @ large & possibly suffered from "Avengers envy" betraying their team?
4)The Avengers have always had a seemingly fractious relationship w/ the X-men. There's always been this ongoing implication that the Avengers were doing the X-men a FAVOR by even being friendly w/ them. Members like Captain America & She-Hulk have often behaved as though dealing w/ the X-men or even acknowledging them as EQUALS was an act of CHARITY. Same thing w/ the Fantastic Four. But the X-men put the FF in their place (& what a satisfying read that was)
5) The catalyst for this allegedly "Epic" event? PHOENIX...or rather "the phoenix force returning to earth to find someone new to host it"...what about JEAN? Isn't she White Phoenix of the Crown? The one TRUE avatar? (not that i'm a fan of what morrison & pak did to her during that Endsong bullshit but just referencing that b/c they attempted to undo longstanding continuity established by claremont & now it seems things could change again)
6) I wonder how/if Rachel, Madelynne & White Queen, all of whom have hosted/been touched by the Phoenix's power will factor in to the force's searching for a new host.
7) W/ the way the X-teams have been shuffled...I personally don't think Cyclops' team alone (even w/ Magik & Dazzler on his roster) have enough to handle any given cycle of the Avengers so will this "epic" event involve ALL X-teams?
8) Looks like CABLE is back. So much for HIS "epic" sacrifice in "The 2nd coming" storyline.
9) Why do I get the feeling this will become something of a parallel to scarlett witch's mayhem from house of m? & speaking of that witch, she's returned & even REpowered such mutants as Rictor. She has ALOT of ppl [mutants] she should be answering to for what she's done. I wonder if that will factor into this. It would be QUITE interesting to see PHOENIX undo what SW did in house of M.
