For those of us living in America (and those around the world who are watching) We are living in some perilous times. You'd have to be in a cave or under a rock NOT to be aware of the problems we face and how it seems more and more that global conflicts are dictating the direction of this country. I personally feel we are losing our way, we are losing our identity and independance and it won't be long before we can no longer claim "America is the greatest country". Hell we can BARELY claim it now with the way things are going.

So as we face the looming novermber "congressioinal elections" and it is quite apparent that what used to be a generally over looked election is now becoming VERY important in more than one way, I wanted to find out from you all what YOU think the biggest problem America is facing right now.

Is it the war in iraq and the fact we are spending BILLIONS? is it our weak (and slow to grow) economy and the fact that americans are earning LESS and have to spend MORE? is it the fact that oil companies are holding us hostage with gas prices while raking in BILLIONS of dollars in profits?

what concerns you the most about the state of America right now?

i voted insane gas prices, even though everything listed is just as important, if not more.

but i see it as if gas prices continue to sky rocket, it's going to increase oil prices, which in turn will continue a chain reaction that will slowly crumble our economy. look what happened 30 some years ago when people could only get gas on certain days of the week. it could easily turn into that, or worse.

gas prices in LA alone are 3.78. and that's around the lowest I saw. it's insane.

I voted the War in Iraq.

I support our troops and when it FIRST happened, I felt the War was the RIGHT thing to do.... but we've been in Iraq nearly since Bush has been in OFFICE.... and I think we are spending WAAAAY too much money and manpower over there. The war has affected EVERY part of our lives, our economy, our gas and oil prices, how we feel about our government... its a big ripple effect that STARTS with the fact that we're STILL in Iraq and people are STILL GOING to Iraq. Yes, that country needs help... but America can't help EVERYONE, and we CANT stay there FOREVER. Iraq needs to learn to stand on its own feet, WITHOUT American Military presence.... we need to start withdrawing so THEY can pull themselves together. The longer we stay there, the more that country will DEPEND on us and the more TAXED our OWN military and ECONOMY will be.

I couldn't just pick one, I think they are ALL important issues to look out for. And that each cause a huge impact on our country. Nice thread, Farrah.

I picked Bush and his methods as I feel that those spawn many of the other problems. And for the record, this country has only gone forward when young people were "against" the government.
