Ugh wow that's a bit much, a lot much but damn i wonder how many people are being tracked illegally right now.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) this week filed a civil rights lawsuit against the FBI on behalf of Yasir Afifi, a Muslim-American student of Egyptian descent who lives in Santa Clara, California.

Mr. Afifi last year discovered a strange gadget attached to the underside of his car, when he took his car in for an oil change. He was afraid it was a pipe bomb. A friend of his then posted photos of Reddit, asking if anyone knew what it was. With the help of savvy internet observers, and civil rights groups including the ACLU and CAIR, Afifi soon figured out that this was a secret GPS tracking device, placed by the FBI without a warrant to spy on his movements nd activities. News of the internet attention spread to FBI agents, who then demanded he return the device to the bureau.

I really hope not but probably because he is Muslim and Egyptian, not a good combination in this political climate
 
But you'd have to think they would have to have a rhyme or reason in how they choose which Muslim-Egyptian's to target lol.

Obviously they shouldn't have done it, but I'm just nosey lol
 
see aside from the obvious implication of racial profiling (among other things) for this student

this is another confirmation that im NOT missing anything by not having a GPS. whatever happened to knowing how to use a fucking MAP? or if not that, google maps online, i've found, is the best. mapquest is garbage and aaa maps gives you the long "OUT OF THE WAY" route but google consistently gives good accurate results.

"1984" has been upon us for sometime now. Sometimes I stop and look up around me when I'm out in the open. There's cams EVERYWHERE now.

im gonna get real paranoid and start wearing dark wigs, sunglasses and other things when i go out in public LOL
 
You should totally watch NCIS LA lol - you would go nuts seeing the shit they do on that show. That you know is real lol
 
but this wasn't even like they tapped his phone or his car's GPS unit they attached an entire Pipe bomb looking device to his car, don't get GPS if you want but they're still gonna get you if they want to
 
Just playing Devil's Advocate...do they have any proof that the FBI actually put the thing on the car? "People on the internet" saying that's what it is doesn't exactly evoke confidence. lol

thats a fair question.

but risks aside, these days you can find out ALL KINDA SHIT on the internet, seriously. its a TREMENDOUS tool that opens the door to vast sources of info or people w/ info.
 
Yeah, I'm not saying it's not an FBI thing, cause let's face it, it probably is, but this whole thing is kind of "5 minutes of fame"-y.
 
Its an FBI GPS that the agency demanded returned if they didn't place it then they need to answer who stole one of their devices to lowjack the kid's car

This part made me laugh though:
