'Sesame Street' losing 'Maria' after 45 years
-------------------
Wow! I grew up w/ Sesame Street, BEFORE 'Elmo' was all the rage & he was just another muppet on the street. Big Bird was always my favorite muppet & Maria was my favorite human character on the show.Sesame Street showcased a truly diverse cast of characters & offered exposure to other languages & cultures. Maria taught me how to say "good morning" in Spanish when I was just a little girl. I also learned how to count to 10 in french from Sesame Street.
One of the most memorable segments of her's for me was when she, Susan & Olivia (the late Alaina Reed Hall) did this hip hop/rap song called "Cross it out". Maria had pretty good flow! It's definitely the end of an era w/ her leaving the show.
