Avengers Lineup Reported

Iron Man director Jon Favreau told USA Today that Marvel Studios has its proposed lineup of superheroes for a proposed Avengers movie.

Favreau told the newspaper that the team's lineup has changed throughout the years, "but the ones Marvel is talking about now are Captain America, Hulk, Thor, Ant-Man and Iron Man. I would love to see that."

Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios' president of production, confirmed to the paper that he's working toward the day when "heroes can cross into each other's adventures and occasionally team up if there's a foe too great for any one of them to handle."

Feiger and screenwriter Zak Penn (X2 and The Incredible Hulk) are uniting to get Avengers in theaters by summer 2011.

The classic lineup minus Wasp adding Cap. Wonder which Ant-man they're going to use if wasp isn't showing up??

okay if they're going to exclude WASP who was a FOUNDING member, and most likely arent going to include any OTHER females, then i will DEFINATELY not be seeing this movie.

Wasp should definitely be there. I was hoping for no ant-man and Spiderman and Ms. marvel added WITH Wasp.

How could they not have Wasp? Hoping that's not the definitive lineup.

And how does the Edgar Wright Ant-Man movie figure in with all the announcements? Wonder if that's still happening at some point.

Edgar Wright plans to direct an action-adventure film with some humorous elements, insisting that Ant-Man would not be a comedy like Fantastic Four or a spoof.[1] The script has been written by Wright and Joe Cornish, who plan to include Henry Pym and Scott Lang as major characters, with Pym as Ant-Man in the 60's in Tales to Astonish style, and a flashforward to Lang as Ant-Man's successor in the 80's/90's.[2]

On February 9, Wright said that the project was in "a holding pattern" while the script was revised, with casting yet to begin. The director reported that he would have news for the film in a few months.[3] He has been researching nanotechnology for the film.[4] As of March 2008, Wright told Empire magazine that a second draft of the script is being written. Known for being a comedic writer, the director noted that the film would not be overtly comedic, but that it would be "more of a full-on action adventure sci-fi film but with a comedic element."[5]

Seems like this could clash with the continuity they're trying to establish in the other movies.

The only reason for excluding Wasp i can thing of is someone (probably an Executive) thought that having her and Ant-man would be too much. I thought this would be a foundation movie with the original team finding Cap in the ice after the events of his movie. Maybe add Hawkeye, Scarlett Witch and Quicksilver they are more hallmarks of the Avengers then Hulk has been. Not good when straight from the gate fans are questioning the early announcements.

Wasn't Wasp one of the first Chairs of the Avengers too??

Yes. She was with the time from the START. BEFORE Captain America. Not including her is like having not included Invisible Woman in the Fantastic Four movie and replacing her with an "alternate" member which is what they want to do here.

and considering one of the people involved was also apart of the X2 movie (and all of those sucked ass) im not surprised that this movie will probably TANK.

Eva Longoria to be cast in 'The Avengers'?

Here's a bit of 'Avengers' casting buzz that's sure get fans talking. Eva Longoria as Janet Van Dyne, aka The Wasp.

Oh No They Didn't celebrity gossip and paparazzi blog snapped some incriminating photos of the 'Desperate Housewives' star that suggest she may be taking on the part.

Eva Longoria seen leaving the Marvel offices in September, holding a stack of Avengers comics.

In the photos, Longoria is seen in the parking garage of the building where Marvel Entertainment keeps their Hollywood offices. Presumably, Longoria has just met with the filmmakers. Clearly visibile in her hands a stack of Avengers comics.

Now we know the 'Avengers' movie is supposed to include Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, Thor and Ant Man, each of which character is or will be top-lining its own movie before 'Avengers' comes out. But the above roster makes for kind of a sausage party and Ant Man's sugar mama The Wasp has been part of the roll call since issue #1.

So, if Eva was meeting with Marvel and the meeting was about 'The Avengers' then it's pretty easy to imagine Longoria wearing the wings of the winsome Wasp. Her tough-but-pampered 'Housewives' character Gabby isn't too far removed from the long-suffering Wasp after all.

Does this mean she'll be appearing in Edgar Wright's 'Ant-Man' movie as well?

What do you think? Should Eva Longoria be The Wasp in 'The Avengers'?

What do you guys think? I've never even seen a full ep of Desperate Housewives; can't really comment.

well i haven't had a chance to watch a full season in a while but i thing Eva could capture the . . . .lets say "spirit" of the Wasp. :hehe2:
