Madelynne Pryor, Goblyn Queen, Marvel Woman, Red Queen- whatever you call her, she's totally bad ass. Though a clone of Jean Grey, she's much more blood thirsty & street smart; her powers- telepathy & telekinesis were augmented by dark magick. She was one of the few able to outright resist/negate the Genoshan mutate bonding process. She can bring out the demonic essence in any person or object, leaving the target under her control. Aside from high powered force blasts & force fields/bubbles that were unbreakable by the combined efforts of X-men & X-factor, She's able to telekinetically warp reality in a localized area even. She can use her telekinetic power to increase her strength to the point she was able to shatter Trevor Fitzroy's supposedly indestructable chronal armou She has a 7 out of 7 for speed & She teleports via psychokinetic "shunting" across the astral plane & has been able to siphon the psionic energy of others to augment herself or Nate Grey. She's kicked her template's ass...TWICE & was one third of the catalyst for the Inferno. She prooved powerfull enough to defeat her creator- twice. She also took down Sage, Scribe, Mountjoy Trevor Fitzroy & prooved to be beyond X-man's ability to remove from the physical plane of existence.

Biggest apparent liability- although she's an excellent strategist, her deep seated hatred/obsession w/ Jean Grey has often been her undoing.

Apocolypse- centuries old mutant who wants to destroy everything. His own mutant powers are augmented by technology.Apocalypse claims to have control of his body on the molecular level-- allowing him to shape change and elongate with virtually unlimited range, to increase density and allow his body to mimic metals and armors, to teleport, and to be virtually immune to the effects of age. Apocalypse can also increase his strength to levels- according to some write ups-- surpassing that of the Hulk. He's been show capable of vast energy projection.

Biggest apparent liability- ongoing obsession with world domination & methods that often proove too outrageous to sustain. he's also ravaged by the techno organic virus & must use an exoskeleton body armour to prevent his energies from consuming him.

This one has been tough for me to tackle.

On the surface I would say Apocalypse easily, though the breadth of comics history, when taken i its entirety and looked at more deeply, does not necessarily support that.

In the end, the matchup depends on time in my opinion. If you told me the battle was short, I would say that Madelynn won half of those easily, maybe more. But the longer the battle goes I believe, the more likely it is that Apocalypse has defeated her.

Is is worth noting that Marvel themselves give Pryor almost no credit, rating En Sabah Nur FAR ahead of Madelynn in every category and describing the Goblin Queen's powers essentially as Jean Grey with no little to no training. Going simply by their ranking and descriptions, she would have no shot. I tend to think, given the evidence that I recall, that she would give a good battle but would lose more often than she would win, and that the longer the battle rages the more likely it is that Apocalypse would 'figure her out'.

Yeah Marvel.com is notorious for outdated write ups on characters & their 7 point scale overlaps w/ what users/fans think the character power rating should be. i rarely use them as my SOLE source of info anymore & when it comes to characters I've read personally for years, I've often found that Marvel.com just doesn't stack up when it comes to accuracy. I have several handbooks from 2003 onward that i use for my reference when it comes to power scales etc.

& then you have the whole issue of perception- the same problem Dazzler faces. A character that is established as capable, powerfull & has fans but the "current" readers didnt experience her original outing & so they only have write ups or opinions that are biased to go on.

Keep in mind that her first encounter w/ Sinster saw her strike him down, only to have him overpower her & seemingly subdue her, only then to see her rise to the occassion to overpower HIM & utterly defeat him. Given Apocolypse's own history w/ Sinister, i imagine he'd probably regard her much like Sinister did. Initially underestimating her, then being surprised by her power, moving quickly to take her down & then underestimating her power again.

I agree that Apocolypse would probably be VERY intrigued by her , given her uncanny resemblance to Jean Grey but he'd realize that she's vastly different than Jean in many ways & this would cause him to want to analyze & either make her his catspaw or destroy her.

First encounter...I truly feel would go to Madelynne, several rounds, she'd still have the advantage but one of Apocolypse's biggest advantages is his longevity & he would eventually overpower her- at least for a time.

Maddie has returned from oblivion several times over the years & each time she's come back w/ a BANG & reminded the X-men what a huge threat she is. Her most recent turn as the Red Queen of the Hellfire Club & leader of The Sisterhood was no exception.

Both Apocolypse & Maddie are rather emotional & think that would cause both of them to stumble @ some point as well.

I personally give Maddie 5.5 or 6/10 for this one.

I can see that, especially at first. I do not agree, but we aren't far off. I am probably leaning the same the other way. War is still more of a way of life for Apocalypse and I think that could give him an edge in a contest that is pretty close in terms of raw power.

This one is REALLY tough. I DO happen to think that Nur outclasses Sinister so, given your recounting of his encounter with Pryor, I think that this one goes to the old geezer 6-6.5/10.
