Has anyone here attempted to trace their family line & ancestry?

If so, what resource/service did you use?

How far back did you go w/ it & did you find anything surprising about your extended family history?

I've got mine back to 1600 or so. My sister did a school project on it, and my mom's cousin is a Mormon and they have a ton of resources. I think I looked at the Ellis Isle website as well. I have a problem with ancestry.com cause they charge lol
