Alison aka Dazzler, with all of her light based powers, versus Monica aka Photon, Pulsar, Captain Marvel (damn how many names does she have? LOL) with her own impressive set of light based powers.

Photon moves at light speed, Dazzler's powers acvitate at the speed of light. BOTH women have RANGE. one advantage Photon may have is her FLIGHT, but Dazzler is no slouch when moving on ROLLER SKATES and has been shown to be able to move on an expressway at HIGH SPEEDS even keeping up with cars, and FIGHTING.

If Dazzler can BLIND Photon...then its over. One photon blast could pulp Photon, and a Laser blast would gravely injure her in her unprotected form. but Dazzler has forcefields to protect from Photon's energy projection...it could really go either way i think.

Photon can be a bit bossy at times and Dazzler can be a diva at times...so these two might not mesh well.

Who's your pick and why?
 
Photon has this won. With her ability to change into a pure energy form, she can become invisible, intangible, move at lightspeed as well as absorb or duplicate any form of energy. Monica can just absorb anything Dazzler throws at her or uses to shield herself with. Dazzler is just outmatched in this fight.
 
but again, being intangiable doesnt protect from being BLINDED or disoriented. since both women's powers activate at "light speed" ...for me, its a matter of who gets the drop on who because even while she's intangiable, Dazzler can use her powers to attack Monica's equilibrium, cause vertigo, send her emotions haywire etc. she can also create holograms to confuse and disorient. BOTH women can create force fields so that's a draw but there's many area that i just dont see Monica "out classing" Alison in...like energy projection.
 
but what i'm saying is most of the moves your talking about Dazzler using only effects Monica if shes in a physical form if shes in her energy form all of the things your suggesting are invalidated.
 
intangibility has NEVER been full proof against sonic, light, certain energy based, gas or certain psychic attacks.

so again...what difference would it make if she were in her intangible form unless she loses the need for her SENSES to help orient her direction in flight (which is something Dazzler can attack with her powers)....does she lose her emotions? something Dazzler can warp with her light attacks or even STUN her into a stupor.

she might be able to avoid photon or laser blasts while intantible, but it wouldnt protect her from the PASSIVE attacks that Dazzler is capable of and again, is it stated anywhere that Monica is immune from having her visual sense overloaded? it is for Dazzler AND it has been shown which is why the Femizon, "White out" couldnt blind Dazzler when they fought...she stated herself "my own powers neutralize Whiteout's attack".
 
but what i saying his shes non-biological when in energy forms how is Dazzler effecting a non-biological being's balance and vision? As well as the fact that in Monica can absorb whatever form of energy Dazzler's light show is. Shes been show to drain, duplicate and counter energy sources with more power than Dazzler.
 
well, you DIDNT clarify that before lol. Though i've never read anywhere that when Photon turns into an energy form that she loses the aspects of a human being. there are other characters (including Ms. Marvel during her Binary phase) that transforme into energy forms and could still be felled by a few specific attacks because they attack the mind, the senses, the emotions etc.


and as for who has more power...in terms of energy projection ONLY...i think you're under estimating Dazzler. she's an older character with a large platform of accomplishment and while she might be back in the forefront with Excalibur...i've noticed that many of marvel's readers TODAY think Dazzler is a disco relic and nothing more.

Would you consider Photon a match for Havok blast for blast? DAZZLER IS.
 
one thing i thought of Monica is only visible when hes in the visible wavelength of light how is Dazzler going to aim at a gamma rays or radio waves? Its impossible and even if she found a way shes still human with human reaction times. Her power may move at the speed of light but her body and mind doesn't. So Monica could show up behind her shot in the back and move before Dazzler even registers the pain.
 
Photon is the winner hands down. Her ability to match DC's Green Lantern AND usurp his power in JLA/ Avengers greatly outclasses anything Dazzler has accomplished in her time.
