Connections to God

i don't mean this thread to be a discussion of the rights and wrongs of any religion but i'm kind of curious what connects you to religion and why? Myself i never felt the need to church or god of any faith and what to know why most people feel the need/urge to connect themselves to something higher or bigger then themselves.

it brought me comfort when my mother passed on. i didn't choose Christianity or Hebrew or anyhing. But i did kinda find a relationship with God or whatever. Call it God, Buddha, or even the universe as an abstract... whatever it is, i talk to it and it brings me comfort.

ive learned to think for myself and I have evolved and moved away from religion. i grew up in it and that ALONE made me a prime candidate for a therapist LOL!

so no, i dont feel a connection to RELIGION. I am spiritual and there's a difference, but that's a subject for another thread.

i just find it odd we are all spiritual in a way and i never really understood people who saw that religion and dogmas are need to connect ourselves. i think we do it well enough on our own. why the need for the glamer and rules?

I didn't grow up in a religious family so religion has never really been a part of my life. For a while (when I was 15) I chose to call myself religious, but only for a short while, and today religion has no part in my life, even though I find it interesting etc.
