Are there any parents, god parents, aunts, uncles on the board?

For those who don't have children, neices/nephews, do you want ever want any?

Anyone here currently or ever been a mentor a'la "Big Brothers/Big Sisters" program?

Uncle here,
4 children by my oldest brother (3 nieces and 1 nephew) and my sister is currently pregnant with her first child, no clue what the sex is there.

Father, a son (10) and daughter (10 months). Also an uncle of 7.

I don't have children and I'm not even an aunt.

I want children, though. I don't know how many I want. I don't know if I want my own, but I do know that I want to adopt. Rosie O'Donnell has talked a lot about adoption on her old show, so that's where inspiration comes from. Also, and I don't wish to bum anyone out, these children have no love to have or to give so why would I want my own when there are thousands of already made kids?

I think that's very thoughtful. There's an entire sub population of children who languish in the foster care /state system waiting fot the unlikely event of adoption. its worse for those children who are older or black or some other ethnicity. The prime choice always seems to be infants or those from overseas.

I dont knock anybody for adopting children from where ever, as long as the motives are pure & the adoptive parents are fit to care for the child & will give him/her a loving home.

BUT i would say for those in America, they should look @ children in America first. While it is admirable to rescue a child from a bleak situation overseas, what about the children we have here?

That's just what I think of when I think about the topic of adoption but overall, I commend those who consider the option of adopting b/c there are soooo many children who would love to be taken into a warm, loving home by a caring parent(s).
