CCW permit

Does it allow you to carry in any state or are the permits different state by state? I'm asking because my parents want to get a gun for when they're hiking in the southwest, but they're worried about having to take it through multiple states with different gun laws.

Yeah they are going to take the class here but they're not sure that will allow them to carry it in, say, Arizona or New Mexico.

oh im sure the reg board that handles the permits in their home state could answer that, or refer them to whatever state's reg board # they're heading to in order to find out. thats just not something i had thought of before...but since you mentioned it, I should find out for when I move next year! lol!
 
In Queens and NYC its not allowed or next to impossible to get one i believe and besides in NYC, its slightly frowned upon to have guns like that unless you plan on doing drive-bys.
 
well IDGAF if its frowned upon here or not lol. im a single woman and to me its reasonable to want to have a means of protection. the police are not always quite good about "being there when you need them".

Never said you were "from" there. Though i have a honest question since i only know from stereotypes and cultural studies do the stores really sell guns cause i never actually seen a gun store besides the stray hunting rifle in a sporting/outdoor place. What about back home in Michigan cause its such an odd thing to me.
 
I remember some of the mega/super sized stores (whether kmart, walmart or even meijer) in michigan had sporting/hunting depts. where they'd sell ammo and various types of fire arms but i honestly havent seen that down here. but at the same time, i dont shop at walmart for any reason.
