I saw an ad for this during something I had taped - did anyone watch it last weekend? It looked very good. With Angela Bassett as Coretta Scott King and Mary J. Blige as Betty Shabazz.

I remember seeing a trailer for it on another website a few weeks ago & I was surprised. Every now & then, Lifetime takes on really interesting & ambitious projects & unlike the DISASTER that was "Liz & Dick", I had hopes for this movie. I didnt get to see it b/c of personal stuff going on but I still want to see it. I'm a fan of Angela Bassett especially. I read earlier this week that Betty Shabazz's daughter was railing against the film for its "inaccurate portrayal of her mother."
I was actually surprised because I've done a lot of reading on the Nation of Islam and I didn't remember anything about them being friendly. But maybe I just don't remember it because I wasn't focused on it.

that was also what got my attention. i never read anything showing that they were friendly either. but then that was never what i was LOOKING for whenever i read about Betty Shabazz or her husband or the Nation of Islam.
Coretta Scott King was alot more progressive (when it came to women's rights & lgbt rights @ a time when such things didnt exist) than her husband & her grown children. she was a very steadfast advocate.
