Police are looking into a clash between Akon and a concertgoer that ended with the R&B star tossing the teen off the stage and onto another spectator who said she suffered a concussion.

Audience members said the trouble started when a spectator lobbed something at Akon during a concert Sunday at Dutchess Stadium and the 34-year-old singer asked the crowd to point out the culprit. A security guard picked out a 15-year-old and sent him up to the stage, where Akon hoisted him onto his shoulders and flung him back into the audience, The Poughkeepsie Journal reported Thursday.

The boy landed on Abby Rosa, who told the newspaper she quickly felt a headache and blurry vision and was later diagnosed with a concussion. She said she has hired a lawyer and spoke to Fishkill police about the incident, and that she wants an apology from Akon.

Fishkill Police Detective Lt. John Berlingieri said no criminal charges had been filed against Akon. And the singer's attorney, Benjamin Brafman, released a statement saying there was no basis for criminal charges.

But Berlingieri said police want to talk to the teen, whose name has not been released. A Fishkill town official told the newspaper the boy was not hurt and left the stadium after declining medical treatment.

Sunday's scuffle wasn't the first concert controversy for the platinum-selling Akon. Earlier this year, the singer did a sexually explicit onstage dance with a girl from the audience who was later revealed to be 14.

Akon apologized and said he didn't know the girl was underage, saying the April 12 concert in Trinidad was supposed to have been restricted to fans 18 and older.

His latest album, "Konvicted," has sold more than 1 million copies in the United States. Akon's hits include "Don't Matter," "I Wanna Love You" with Snoop Dogg and "Smack That" with Eminem.

Who the hell is Akon and why did he throw someone off the stage instead of putting him down nicely? I swear people have no decency anymore. If you are gonna throw someone just put them in a trebuche and launch em sky high! Also what kind of name is Fishkill? That town has some major problems if it has a name like that. It's almost as despicable as...Crystal Lake Camp!!!!

Akon is another crossover artist who hails from the "dancehall" genre. he had success a year or two with the single "locked up" (that was cleverly remixed for a special "Martha Stewart" edition when she went to prison LOL)

and now he's got an album with several hits on it right now.

Akon was recently shown on television AGRESSIVELY "dry humping" Tara Ried on stage before one of his cohorts jumped up and started doing the same from her back...it was almost VIOLENT and poor Tara was being jostled back and forth like a rag doll. He was ALSO in hot water for pulling a young girl on stage and dancing very suggestively up on her and it turned out SHE was onlly 14 :sure:. He apologized and said he "didnt know she was that age".

and NOW, he apparently thinks its okay to throw fans off the stage on top of OTHER fans.

I've lived in New York all my life. ;) Fishkill like other towns with the word 'kill' is a form of Dutch. Other towns such as Wallkill and Plattekill are also very dutch based.

Moving back on topic to Akon. He is a rapper who I believed was from South Africa but later moved to New Jersey. He is what I like to call a thug, especially after spending his time in jail, which I don't recall for what.

What Akon did is in excusable. Its like "Oh, I'm sorry I did that I didn't know she was underage!" LOL! Meanwhile two fans were harmed because of his crap.

Being that I work at a concert venue, the security guard should never have lifted the person onto the stage. It's their job to keep people OFF the stage. I'm sure the production company putting on that show is going to be suing Akon for their money back...

the security guard was probably one of his entourage thugs. either way, Akon, like most dancehall artists comes off like another misogynistic, homophobic pig to me and for him to THROW a fan off the stage without even once considering the possibility that they (or someone else) would be injured? this calls for some LEGAL scrutiny IMO.

Of course it does :) I wasn't saying that Akon isn't to blame, cause he is, but even if it was one of his entourage, the venue handles security. So there should have been security around there telling him uh uh. Someone's going to get fired over that, that's for sure.

Most artists I've seen have clauses in their riders AGAINST the use of excessive force by security.

:)

The poor kid? Fuck him. If you throw at a thug at his concert, what do you expect?

Akon was wrong for that but the kid was stupid, and I have little patience for stupid...

it was a PIECE OF PAPER though. it wasnt a cup of liquid, it wasnt a HARD object, it wasnt SPIT or anything..it was a harmless piece of paper. how many OTHER HIGHER profile artists have had things thrown up on the stage?

Aerosmith has had underwear launched at him; I was at a concert where Madonna had a stuffed animal thrown up on the stage while she was dancing and she just spin around in mid dance and kicked it right back off the catwalk; Chaka Khan performed in detroit a few years back and people were throwing JOINTS at her on stage!

Im not saying that performers DESERVE to have things thrown at them, but "thug" or not...you dont THROW someone out into the crowd without any regard for the INJURY it could cause. the boy that got thrown wasnt hurt but another young lady who had nothing to do with it WAS injured.

This isnt like what happened at the Palace of Auburn hills (the pistons vs. the pacers) when those obnoxious fans basically incited violence upon themselves by throwing FOOD and DRINKS on players...this was a piece of paper.

Uh, Garrick...the kid AND the people could of been hurt by his "thugged out" reaction. Please, thug or not (and that's debatable in itself), that was bullshit and lame. He TOLD the security gaurd to get the kid, brought him on stage, and threw him into a crowd of fans for a wad of paper. It was unnecessary.
