Jobless in Iowa: a third of the state’s unemployed have been looking for work for six months or more | The Ticket - Yahoo! News

I read a similar piece a few months ago highlighting ppl from california. Some of those stories were heartbreaking & scarey. :( I also just read a report yesterday that Wisconsin, the birthplace of many labor reforms (such as the 5 day/40 hr work week) labor unions etc is now LEADING the nation in job losses thanks in no small part to Tea party gov. scott walker's balatant attacks on labor & unions as well as public sector worke's jobs.

<<smh>>

& it's like you can't win no matter what you do!

you're either unqualified due to not having the degree (even if you have the hands on experience), you're OVERqualified (have a degree/experience & whatever else determines THAT status); you're experience makes you "too costly" to hire; you're inexperience makes you get passed over "for another candidate"; or NOW if you're unemployed "too long", you "need not apply"...THAT one in particular is alarming to me & companies are becoming more bold about making this criteria for whether or not they'll hire someone. its widely agreed that it's unethical but still its technically not illegal. :(

so what does a person do!?
